Hi Everyone,

I am interested on applying to Canada via Express Entry. I have already taken my IELTS and my educational background has already been verified by WES. I am applying with a partner who has also taken both requirements. After taking the score simulation, we are quite happy with our estimated score of 450 given that the last cutoff for invitation was at around 442. I have a few questions before applying for an invitation to apply.

1.) My passport is to expire on December 2018 and I was able to schedule an appointment for renewal on Aug 24. Will this be an issue? Should I wait for it to be renewed before applying for an invitation? I really dont want to delay.

2.) My partner and I are set to get married also in August. Would it be okay to apply as partners (for the invite)even if we know we are going to get married?

3.) We are expecting a kid by the end of the year. Should I declare 3 family members on the application or just 2?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!
Carlos

Renew your passport and update the details even after your ITA(you can provide a Letter of Explanation, LoE)

2.) My partner and I are set to get married also in August. Would it be okay to apply as partners (for the invite)even if we know we are going to get married?
In your profile you are mentioning your partner as a common in law correct ? if that is the case once you get married, imho you can update your profile after you get your ITA, as long as your partner is already mentioned in profile before you get the ITA

3.) We are expecting a kid by the end of the year. Should I declare 3 family members on the application or just 2?
This will delay things for yaa... why because once you receive your ITA you have to do your medicals which involves Xray... Panel physician will not allow the Xray till the baby is delivered, and may provide you a letter deferral letter for the Xray to be done later. You can attach that letter in your PR application submission highlighting the thing.

You can take a look at these links for this topic:

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi bimale4bipeople!

Thanks for your inputs and the greeting! Much appreciated! It's nice to know that there's a bit of flexibility (providing a letter of explanation). Time to fill in the online forms for invitation - and hope to get invited!

Cheers!

1. It doesn't matter, just apply with whatever passport you have on hand, and you'll be able to send your new passport when you get PPR.
2-3. I don't think you can include your partner in your application, unless you include your partner as common-law.
It would be simple enough to include your wife after you get married (with all the documents) and your child if you enter Canada before landing.
