Hello!

My name is Devshri and I have completed my graduation in Social Work with my final average as 69% . I pursued Masters of Social Work with a specialisation in Public Health from a premier university in India. I achieved my masters degree with an overall 7.3 CGPA. While doing masters I even got the Erasmus Mundus scholarship to study public health courses for a year at Uppsala University, Sweden. I completed extra 67.5 credits of masters from this university.

I am currently working as an assistant manager at an NGO which is working to provide health and education to impoverished women in rural India since 10 months now.

I plan to study further in mainstream public health courses and focus on Global health now as I want to pursue a career in Global Health. I wish to get practical experience along with course work and hence applied for Masters in Canada. I have applied for various MPH / Msc courses at Universities like UBC, UofT, McMaster and University of Alberta to get the required skills.

I have 2 questions pertaining to my visa application:
1. If I get accepted at any university, how do my chances to obtain a study permit visa in Canada look?
2. If I leave my job before applying/just while applying the visa, would it negatively affect my profile/visa result?

I secured an overall 8.0 band score in IELTS and a 303 in GRE (V - 148 / Q - 155 / A - 4.0 ).

Thanks.

1. If you get acceptance from good university, you're more likely to get the study permit as long as you write a strong SOP.
2. No need to leave the job. Just apply the study permit while working.

Hello devshri

This is Ali writing from India.
I am looking forward to applying for MPH programs in Canada.
I wanted to know if international students can get admission there with lower GPAs as compared to Canadian ones.I was going through a forum, wherein some of the guys with 3.5 or higher GPA could make it to the MPH.
Do they take International students with lesser GPAs like around 3.2 .
Is there any such thing??
