Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
Hi All,

After getting the visa, if we don't intend to shift to Canada immediately, can we go there for a week and apply for our PR card and come back. Then we can go later on to Canada. Have following questions:

-Is this allowed to just stay for a week to apply for PR card and come back (PR card address will be that of a known person who will then send it to us)
-What is the maximum time we can stay out of Canada while on PR to be eligible for citizenship

Thanks in advance

1. Yes

2. At least 2 out of every rolling 5 year window. 730 days, not necessarily in a row. That's the residency requirement to just maintain your PR status. As things stand today, citizenship eligibility requires you to spend 4/6 years in Canada.

Isn't the 4 year requirement now changed to 3 years for citizenship eligibility?

Not yet. The proposed amendment has to navigate its way through Parliament.

Will the change apply to all PRs? Do you have a link to some news article regarding this future change? Thank you.
