Queries immediately post ITA

Hi All,

I will be creating my EE profile soon & expecting to get ITA with a score of 446. (Just 5-6 days more wait for ECA)

I have some other queries post ITA. Please help me understand these points.

1. Police Verification - Can I do it via Passport office ? Link Below.

2. Medical - Should I book an appointment or not for myself & my spouse now? Or can I apply only after ITA ?

3. How to start on the Job certificates thing (especially from my last organization) ? What all documents will I require from them ?

==>Yes, you can do police verification from PSK(Passport Seva Kendra).. above link is valid..

2. Medical - Should I book an appointment or not for myself & my spouse now? Or can I apply only after ITA ?
==>I would recommend to do meds after receiving ITA..

3. How to start on the Job certificates thing (especially from my last organization) ? What all documents will I require from them ?
==> You need to have experience letter...payslips/pay stubs... reference letter...offer letter(not mandatory but will strengthen your application)

Hi all,


I received an ITA on 4th May and I'm working on getting my documents ready.
I've been working in the same company past 6 years since the start of my career. Can someone list out documents required for proof of work experience? I have all my salary slips and appointment letter. What are other important documents required? Should I ask my HR to give me an experience letter with company's letterhead? What things should I ask her to mention in that letter?

==> you would need reference letter as well.. refer above messages in this thread about reference letter format..

Thank you! Couple of more questions - What is the difference between experience letter and reference letter? What is the format of experience letter? Should I directly ask my HR for both these documents on company's letterhead?

Well experience letter is nothing but how many years you have been with org..(start month/year - end month/year)..and what was your designation (last held)

Reference letter is what were your job duties during those years..refer this format for reference letter (http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/threads/nail-the-challenge-of-getting-reference-letter-from-current-employer.397796/#post-4972228)

& yes you need both on company letter head.. in case you are not able to get reference letter on company letter head.. see this thread for more details..about how to arrange / letter of explanation (LoE)..any other supporting documents.. 1) You should apply for the Police Certificate right away.
2) If you are 100% sure that you will receive an ITA, you can book your appointment a day or two after expected ITA date. You will usually need the ITA for the medical check
3) You get maximum points for 3 years of foreign work experience, so if you have worked for more than one company for several years, just enter that experience from one company with 3 years exp in your express entry profile and get a reference letter from that company. Make sure the reference letters have hours worked per week (They use this to calculate experience - 30 hours/week = full time) along with the other details mentioned above in the other posts. A reference letter alone is sufficient, but if you like, you can provide supporting documents like payslips etc. Also choose your NOC wisely.
