It depends on what stage are you in! everytime "Update" shows up in GCKey it means someone was working on your case and has changed something in your files. So in one working day you might get a massage from CIC. If you had passed all the other stages like medical, landing fee, update of docs, ... then probably it is DM

I am also from London VO and my Background Check is in process since June 2017. Plus I am waiting for my MR still. Its not predictable because there is no certain criteria of processing tasks.

There is difference between We are processing your background check .....and Your application is in progress, We'll send you a message when we start your background check.

Normally, till medical request, Background check status is Your application is in progress, We'll send you a message when we start your background check.
