Wow what a relief ... so what i understood from all this is... employer specific is 2 years and open work permit is granted for a year.
My work permit is expiring on Aug 7 2017 so i should start applying now ?? 2 months is almost what i have ... do not want to go in implied status and stuff.
Yes, you should apply as soon as possible. CIC processing time for the work permits (extension or new) are 48 days right now, however it is written also "Working on applications received on March 24, 2017.". So actually it is almost 65 days. Chech the link below.

Not at all. There isn't a section for new or extension work permit, all is the same. However, if you chose "yes" for job offer, probably it will count as extension work permit.
Yes, under mycic there will be a link "Visitor visa, study and/or work permit". Click it and start eligibility, and if you follow my pdf file, same result will come probably.

andy000, if your current status is "WORKER" and do not have a job right now, then you have to select "restoration your status as a worker" in IMM5710 form

I was selected "An initial work permit or a with a new employer" and for my spouse, we selected "A work permit with the same employer" because she had already an open work permit before.

I suppose that this section will be suitable if you are a student or visitor before.

I remember that we selected "restoration your status as a worker" for my spouse because she had a visitor visa when she first arrived in Montreal. And we also paid a restoration status fee as an extra fee.

It can be found below what I did in IMM5710

Page3 - Details of intended work in Canada
Q1-Open work permit
Q2-7 blank

Page 4 Q2(c)
I got a visitor visa in 2004. I got a worker visa in 2013 and an extension of worker visa in 2014 and 2016 which starts from 2016/03/24 to 2017/03/24.

Hi,
Bro since you are the best informative member here on this forum...
I got this from immigration yesterday
"
This is in reference to your application for a permanent resident visa. Please note that admissibility review (security, criminality and/or medical) is still ongoing; you will be contacted if additional information is required for that purpose.

We wish to remind you at this time that yourRight of Permanent Residence Fee (RPRF) is outstanding. You must pay this fee before a permanent resident visa can be issued. Please note that this fee is different from the processing fees paid at the opening of your application. The RPRF will be refunded if the application is refused, if you withdraw your application or if you choose not to use your visa.

If you delay the payment of the RPRF, your security or medical results may expire, which would delay the issuance of your visas. If you already paid the RPRF (490$), please resend your receipt and then we will allocate the fees to your file. We therefore encourage you to pay the RPRF as soon as possible, by following these steps"
Whqt do you think is happening here ?? Is it a good sign??
