Got CoPR!!
Hey @Smearingo, I have a question. The documents I've received say that my Permanent Residency is valid only until the sticker on the passport, which date says July 2017. Does that mean that we'll have to ask for a renewal after that, or does something change after you do the landing (ie, new sticker, new date at the letter?)

I'm not too worried because the CoPR says that "I must arrive in Canada on or before the expiry date" so I'm assuming that is the limit I have to do the landing, but I wanted to hear your thoughts on it.

Please let me know :)
Other than that, landing tomorrow! Yaaay!!

congratulations, @marcocarnerio!
oh, yes! that is it: it is exactly "the limit [we] have to do the landing"

The validity of the PR visa refers to the time limit before which you have to validate this document --- that is, it is the deadline for landing. You cannot land after that date.
And, it is stated in the accompanying instructions that they have given us the furthest possible date and in no circumstances can it be extended.

PR is for life (until we attain citizenship or somehow lose it because we don't fulfill residency obligations), it does not have to be renewed. and yes, as @cohenbrother mentioned, the PR though will need to be renewed -- which is an ID and travel document, its expiry does not entail the expiry of our PR status (the latter cannot expire).

I went in the morning, I only waited 10 mins.
That's super lucky... I got there 1 hour before they opened, had to wait the hour until opening hours and then half an hour to do the whole thing.

Nice, thanks for the clarification @Smearingo!

thank you @Alemom, that's very great compliment :-* I had this line initially but then I deleted (bcoz I wanted to post that line on my Facebook): I just want to say that many of us here who landed or are planning to land around the same time: we are reborn as Canadians under the sign of Aquarius. (I am Capricornian and always want to be associated with the sign of Aquarius, now I got it!)

I am so happy for you!!! congratulations!!

Thanks and BTW I'm Aquarius, in fact, my birthday was just a few days ago, and this is the best birthday gift ever...
So indeed, welcome to the Aquarius Canadian age lol

Is not for life, in fact, we can loose the PR mainly if we leave Canada for two years, but is true we don't need to renew it :) So stay here guys :)

"Losing your permanent resident status does not happen automatically. You cannot lose your permanent resident status simply by living outside of Canada long enough that you don’t meet the residency requirement. Unless you have gone through an official process, you have not lost or given up your permanent resident status, even though you may not be eligible to return to Canada as a permanent resident.

You may lose your permanent resident status if:

an adjudicator determines that you are no longer a permanent resident following an inquiry; or
a visa officer determines you do not meet the required residency when you apply for a permanent resident travel document or temporary resident travel document.
You may lose your permanent resident status in one of the ways described above if:

you do not live in Canada for two out of five years;
you are convicted of a serious crime and told to leave Canada; or
you become a Canadian citizen.
You do not lose your permanent resident status if your PR card expires."

Hello there ,
I am waiting for the decision to be made for my file.I have submitted my medical exam more than a month ago and the processing of my file has started on December 21st 2016. recently I emailed to the Paris visa office ( Visa office which process my case ) and received a letter by them signed by AWV(seems to be the officer processing my file) .
the question is : How many days it might take for a decision to be made concerning my file ??

Tnx all.

Hi friends,
Appreciate your kind assistance on the below.
I’m planning to apply for the federal; documents are ready and will mail them within couple of days, any expectation on how long the overall process takes? What would be the next step upon sending my federal application?
Please share me your thoughts.
Regards,
Jkan

Wow! So fast!!!

I have a query, I am still awaiting AOR so is it worth linking my paper-based application on myCIC account? What are the advantages? Are there additional updates obtained compared to not linking application to myCIC account?

So...
A lot of key members received CoPr in the past few weeks...
obviously, they will not be here so frequently.

Let's keep alive this SO HELPFULL room!

According to the alemom's (great) time table, the next shot should be who receive AOR in April, May, June 2016.

Mine,
AOR July 2016.

Let's share...

Hi Cherish,

Congratzzz can you confirm your VO????
