Great News.... keeps us updated about the VO change

Got CoPR!!
Hey @Smearingo, I have a question. The documents I've received say that my Permanent Residency is valid only until the sticker on the passport, which date says July 2017. Does that mean that we'll have to ask for a renewal after that, or does something change after you do the landing (ie, new sticker, new date at the letter?)

I'm not too worried because the CoPR says that "I must arrive in Canada on or before the expiry date" so I'm assuming that is the limit I have to do the landing, but I wanted to hear your thoughts on it.

Please let me know :)
Other than that, landing tomorrow! Yaaay!!

I think is before that day you need to do the landing process. Otherwise you will lose the chance to become permanent resident.
After landing you will get one of the signed COPR paper, and they will send you a permanent resident card in 5-7 weeks.
The signed COPR paper is the most important one, they will tell you keep in your whole life.
The permanent resident card can be replaced if it is stolen or lost.
That card needs to be renewed after some years(5 years??).

That is what I understand.

Hello people!!!
Finally, the passports arrived with the CoPR... we are so happy :D :D :D :D :D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

We are going to try to do all the possible paperwork tomorrow (Flagpoplling, RAMQ, SIN).
Someone else is coming tomorrow?

I wish everybody the best.

Hi @alemom!! I'm going too, probably early in the morning. A friend who recently did the flagpolling recommended the border at Saint Armand. Apparently it adds ~10 minutes to the trip but is smaller and less busy. This one opens at 8am though, so I guess it depends on the time I wake up ;D;D
After that I'll do the SIN but in Brossard as is less busy too. I was told at RAMQ that there's no difference - nor any point - in asking for a new RAMQ card now since I've just gotten mine.

Ok, thank you for the tips.
We are a family of 4, so it will depend on everybody waking and being ready.

Do the SIN first in Guy Favreau.
Doing RAMQ next , RAMQ is near la baie and they probably will require you SIN and bring a bill showing your name and address.

Beautiful story @Smearingo, and looks that you are good telling stories.
Your description of everything made me feel I was there with you, and I am really anxious to do the same.
Congratulations!

thank you @Alemom, that's very great compliment :-* I had this line initially but then I deleted (bcoz I wanted to post that line on my Facebook): I just want to say that many of us here who landed or are planning to land around the same time: we are reborn as Canadians under the sign of Aquarius. (I am Capricornian and always want to be associated with the sign of Aquarius, now I got it!)

I am so happy for you!!! congratulations!!
