I don't want to sound nosy... I hope you don't mind if I ask the following questions.....
may I ask if you get CSQ during the time you were a student? (in that case then you did not apply via PEQ-étudiant?)

Yup.. you are right. I am not the PEQ stream. It was the point system for me.

phew~ thank you! i was wondering if one could indeed submit the federal application before getting CSQ ;)
i have once considered the point system in CSQ stage too, but then abandoned the idea as the process looked too stressful. it's great that it works for u!

No no..!! he he... no csq, no federal in QC!
It was rather stressful to learn french besides studies for me than going for the point system. :)

oh for me the French courses were fun and gave me some great sense of achievement, but yes, that's very demanding.

Helo guys,

I just received my GCMC notes and it shows as:

ASSESSMENTS

Eligibility: Passed
Security: Not started
HIRV: "blank"
Criminality: Passed
Org crime: "blank"
Medcial: Passed
Misrepresentation: "blank"
Other reqs: "blank"
Final:

On Nov. 28, the back ground check status changed form "In progress" to "Not needed at this time".

Anyone has same situation? And how long it takes to complete Security check?

My application filed on May 9, 2016. AOR on Aug. 19. I sent my Medical upfront.

Thanks,

Back ground check status changed from in progess to not needed at this stage??!!
What does that mean?! It should either show completed or in progress.. :o :o

For those who already had ppr, how long dit it take for your passports to be returned? Its been 4 mos since I submitted my passport and still no news :( i sent a case specific enquiry but all i got was their generic reply:

We do our best to ensure that applicants are provided with efficient service. We receive an enormous amount of correspondence daily. Although we would like to respond to all of it, we recognize that it takes resources away from processing applications.

Please note that we are unable to acknowledge receipt of documents, medical results, changes of address requests, and other application-related information. We can assure you that the new information provided will be added to your application.

I do not understand either. The date when status of background check changed is the date my criminality passed as shown in the GCMC note.

Hi all, i need help urgently

After i receive my CSQ i applied for the federal , my e-cas showing that it is in process , however i have a problem that i need help, i am married to canadian whom gave me points towards my eligibility, so with his points i qualified to apply for canada, however i have seperated with my husband and i found another guy whom i start life with him
Now if i tell the immigration about the seperation , would i lose my points and i will not be eligible, in another or i will just ignore it.
i am worried after they will do their background check , they will find out and i will be in trouble .
So please advise me what to do
Thankyou.

Its been 10 months since immigration have recieved my file and its been 8 months since they have asked for PCCs and from august 20th 2016 i have linked my file.. since then i can see
"Back ground check: Not needed at this stage"
Does this mean they have completed my background check or they havent started it yet. I am worried because one of the police check is going to expire in a month and i cant get GCMC notes because i am not an inland applicant.

Hi Shmoops,
This is weird unless there is any special case. The best option would be calling CIC and asking for the update. Lemme give you a tip, the call center agents can put a note in your file to denote the special cases like you, and in that case, the processing officer gets the pop-up message on that. If the special note put up option is disable at the agent end then it means the processing officer is aware of your case and there is a special reason behind that. But if the option is enable then that means somehow you slipped out of the way and the agent message will help your file to get processed faster. Btw, I came to know about this from an agent during my calls with cic agents and they found that option 'disable' for me! However, I got my passport request right after 2days of that call and it took just 7 calendar days for to get the passport back with the visa. You can have a look at my timeline.

Hopefully calling cic would help you. Best of luck!

Hi Sarah

it is clearly mentioned on your AOR the following: "Please notify the visa office of any change in your application (birth or adoption of a child, marriage or common-law partner, new job or employer, change of address, change of email address, change of immigration representative etc.) .). Please provide a letter indicating the nature of the changes, along with any supporting documentation. If your documents are not in English or French, please send a notarized (certified translation) with a copy of the originals."

I don't advice you to hide anything. you said it, they will know it one way or the other.
be clear with the CIC, it is a "Fragile" project .

I wish you good luck
