hi guys,
I think I have (un)expected new year's good news to share.
"Expected" because I have been waiting for it for some time---but paradoxically and simultaneously "unexpected" because I did not see any update here on the forum and have made myself believe that I might have to wait a bit more (until February for instance) for any update from CIC.
In short, I actually got an update today (a message silently arrived in the inbox at 7:51am) -- I was indeed checking my status on eCAS last night, but back then, there was no update. :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* I believe it can be classified as what we call here the PPR. But I am from visa-exempt country. This is a bit different from what I perceived here recently from fellow PR-applicants such as Vinc360: I am requested to submit photocopies of passport as well as 2 recent photos (which, well, I really hoped they ask me, as I find my look hideous in those earlier photos that I submitted).
i just checked eCAS: status has been updated to the long-awaited "Decision Made"!!! It has taken exactly 365 days since they received my application. eCAS shows they received it on Jan 6, and today is Jan 5 (including Feb 29 last year, it's exactly 365 days afterward)
But myCIC statuses remain the same:
Application/profile status Open
Review of eligibility Review in Progress
Review of medical results Passed
Review of submitted documents [blank]
Scheduling an interview Not needed at this time
A background check is needed In Progress
Final decision Not Started

Your passport(s) should be valid for at least 6 months and have at least two blank pages. If a child is included on your passport, you must have one blank page per accompanying child. Please note that you STILL need to submit the passport even if:

· If you are holder of passport(s) from countries whose citizens need an eTA to travel to Canada or a holder of passport(s) from the United States, you will need to submit one photocopy of the photo page and any pages containing amendments of the passport for you and for each accompanying family member. Please do not send your original passport(s). Your passport(s) should be valid for at least 6 months.
Please note that these instructions apply to passport holders from Mexico as well, who, as of December 1, 2016 , do not require a visa to enter Canada.
***Please note that Confirmation of Permanent Residence and permanent residence visas cannot be issued to holders of Diplomatic, Official or Military passports. You must have an ordinary passport.***

2. Two (2) photos of yourself and of each accompanying family member. See our specifications at [a link]
