Hello!
I received my csq nearly 1 year now. My agent told me that I can wait for 2 more years in order to save for my immigration. I want to know if I can wait or should I apply in the meantime for my PR. How does this work after receiving a CSQ? How much more should I pay? How much time it will take? I feel discourage and don't know if I should go or stay back here in Mauritius. It was for the best for my Kids and I that I wish to move to Quebec. Its really hard but I wish to proceed further till the end to see and hope that it will be positive. But in the meantime friends, if you can help on some of these questions.
Thank beforehand.
Arvinah
Hi Arvinah,
The CSQ is valid for 3 years. So they advise you to start the Federal Process as soon as possible so that it is approved hopefully before the CSQ expires. However when I got my CSQ, the letter also said that if it expires they can send you a new one.
Once you start the federal application you have to pay (i) Application fee (this is CDN$550 per adult and CND$150 per child), (ii) medicals, (ii) Right to Permanent Residency Fee (RPRF) - CDN$490 per adult only.
I was in the same position as your were. We received our CSQ in June 2013 and sent our federal application in August 2015. However by January 2016 we had already received our medical and passport request so it can move pretty quickly sometimes. Today the system is showing for us decision made and we are hoping that it is a positive one. If it is, then for us the entire federal process took 7 months from when they received our federal application to passport request/ decision made.
