Right now I really feel how all those people who crossed their 20 months waiting with patience to get their decision made done. Today I completed my 20 months and as usual the app "Its taking longer than usual". Dears, do you know that we " who completed their 20 months" are not supposed even to wait up to 20 months? because preliminary it was 15 -17 months when we applied. 2nd: I was wondering that they listed 20 % of the app are complex and may take more than its normal time, Its funny yea? Becoz only few cases how got their decision made, so the rest are more than 20% even! 3rd: if you applied for any application they mention a deadline to submit it, why this "Deadline" rule doesn't apply on us to ask them about our final decision on time? why we have to wait more than our planned time? we and they always speak about human rights. Sorry but this is not respecting any rights. People have plans which are all related to their decision. Pissed!

Why didn’t they need your medical?
I don't know - nothing seems to have been processed yet in this particular case, they will definitely ask for medical, which means we are looking at yet another 6 months - 1 year of wait.... even if that is the last step and they complete all the other steps in the meantime, the time for them to let us know to get the medical done, for my SO to do it, and for them to receive the results and reopen the file to process it, will be at least 6 months if we are generous.... but I know for sure that his country is not exempt from medicals. In fact, I don't think anyone is exempt from medical testing...

I feel for you. I went through this same thing myself (it was faster in my time, when I submitted in 2012... and it still took 2 years). It was a nail-biting wait. Very stressful. Even became paranoid after not hearing back after doing my medical test, and started wondering if there was anything bad in my medical test results.... Now, I am going through the same stress with my significant other, and he submitted in early 2018, and we are currently in our 15th month of wait, so he probably still has a VERY long way to go, because we have not heard anything since AOR.... extremely stressful, even for me. And he is an inland applicant who is on a closed work permit (limited to one particular employer) and has very limited rights even though he has a CSQ. Apparently, now they have stopped processing work permit applications at the border, so you have to submit online and wait for 2 months to get work permit. In the meantime, you cannot work for a new employer, so basically, the chances of changing employer are next to zero, because no employer is going to wait 2 months for someone to get a new work permit allowing them to work with that particular employer.... might as well say, you are not allowed to work for any other employer for the duration of your stay in Canada until you get PR.... not fair...

But you know, this is the mentality: they don't owe you anything. They can reject you for no good reason even. They can reject entry at the airport to anyone if they don't like them, so it is the same for those of us who were/are in this situation of waiting for our immigration paperwork to be processed. It is unfortunate and inhumane, especially since you have brought these people in already and they have Canadian experience, etc., and they have to put their lives on hold and suffer from stress, and for what? And how hard is it to process an application? I mean, I guess most of the wait would be to receive clearance for background check, but on a regular day you can get background check from private companies within 2 weeks... the rest is just a question of looking through the application and making small verifications if any..... It is a matter of 1 hr / application, or at most a day, so why can they not process applications faster? It seems it is an artificial wait time.

Yes I totally agree with you. I will give u a hint about " why can they not process applications faster". what I noticed that you are just a number who pay taxes, pay for renewal of applications. You are supposed to pay for anything they ask you for. In other words, you are an investment not more than that. Yes, you will pay for renewal of your work permit, visa, passports, while you are waiting for this PR. along with you, there are hundreds even more doing the same thing. Even when you apply for permanent residence, its better to pay the full application at the beginning in order to avoid any late decision, so I think everything is obvious. You are an investment for them. My PEQ took 6 months to get it. Listed on their website as 3 weeks. and now PR same story 20 months and still nothing yet. Unfortunately, late decisions, always leave negative side in you. till today I don't understand 2 things, 1: Why your employer have to provide a Canadian national labor assessment when you want to extend your open work permit? are they kidding or what? when you are working and waiting for their delay, why those things are complicated to do? 2: when you get your work permit, they provide you entry visa less than your permit ( Even if you have a valid passport)! How it makes sense? you are living/working in the country and every time you decide to travel, you have to renew your visa! Surprised about everything. Sometimes you think twice even 100 times about your stay.

BIENVENUE! Welcome to the province of Quebec! At this point i want damn decision before the election. not really sure or forecast the overnight unreasonable changes could possible happen.. *don't even wanna think about it*

I honestly want an answer for their unreasonable delay. if they have failed to deliver results on time its not my problem. Not that they are giving the PR for free and not that I am NOT paying their mad crazy tax to contribute in their economy . Because of their pending decision all my scheduled arrangement have been all over the places.
The problem with their estimated time, Yes there are 20% of the applications are complex, but at least categorize each one by its case. They dont give you neither an expected real time frame, nor a direct answer when you contact them. Till now and back then, I don't know why there should be more waiting time. Yes, In Quebec you have to wait forever for your CSQ even for you PR decision. Sad Reality

Hello,

Have you got your notes? Whats the update in your application. Thank you.
Hello, yes I just got it. It looks everything is normal. Eligibility,Medical and Criminality all passed, security check not started. So far I guess I have nothing to do but to wait.

By default it will appear as “We are reviewing whether you are eligible” on GC key no matter if it is “Application received/In process/Decision made” on ECAS. Well some had it staying like that till PPR. I think the eligibility is made up of medical, background checks and application points itself so you must score pass in all to be eligible.

Everyone’s application is different, in my case, I still haven’t got medical request and i’m in my 15th month. I think you can expect same when you are between 12months to 19 months. However, you will have up to your medical expiry date to land in CA so better do your medical late and have plenty of time to plan your arrival that getting your PR when you have 1 month left for your medical to expire and be in a rush ( most jobs require 1 month advise before resignation ) . As per previous comments , rest assure that at least the other steps like background/security checks and verification of documents are ongoing so that when you get asked for medical, you might be getting PPR in two weeks assuming all the other steps are completed.

The thing is, "complex" applications has lost its meaning, because now they use it any time they don't meet their "timeline" which is already long enough!!!!
In the past, this word applied to people who really had very complicated cases/special situations probably with prior offenses of some sort, etc.
Now, it's par for the course.
Actually, if you think about it.... it does not get any better even after you get the PR. My citizenship application took over a year to process. I mean, how much more looking-into someone's records do you need to do, after consistently doing background checks for study permit, work permit, PR, etc. throughout the past 8 years ? Why does a citizenship application have to take that long? It is intentional, in my view, or they are just incompetent and don't do much during the day (both of which are true, I have seen many government employees who are incompetent/not doing much work during the day, having worked in government myself!!!). Not sure which explanation is better. What a shame! And the thing is, when you are on that side of the immigration debate, there are few if any advocates for immigrants on basic things such as processing times, etc. Even the most pro-immigrant parties/individuals, don't care much about those day-to-day things that those of us who have been waiting on applications have to face.

Exactly. They thought that you are here so you have to wait. They don't respect your plans, your time frame or even your patience. I have cancelled my plans 3 times because of their delay. You have to respect their time frames ( They will refuse your application if it is not falling within the deadline) and at the same time, they dont care about you.

Hello MH91

could you please explain every time you decide to travel, you have to renew your visa! if you have valid Canadian visa and a valid work permit that's not enough to travel ? reason i asked i am travelling soon and have travelled in the past. just making sure if i have to get any additional papers apart from valid Visa, passport and work permit and CSQ. please kindly confirm.
Check your visa if indicating "Multiple Entry".. Mine I renewed it 3 times, They gave me one entry.

Hi guys
Can you leave canada after obtaining CSQ and wait to get your PR?
Let's say my temporary residence visa gets invalid while I'm outside canada. Can I land in Canada when my PR is granted?
Thank

Once you will get your PR, your passport will be stamped with SIngle Entry Immigrant VISA along with a COPR document.

With these things, You will be able to land in CANADA.
