Hello guys, I was thinking if I should move to Ontario for my pr application to move faster. I was approved as a refugee in July 2024, and applied the same month and got my csq. Now seeing all the Quebec applicants still waiting for pr from 2021 made me anxious. Will moving help in this case?

Believe me that would be the best decision of your life to move out from Quebec, i am considering the same.

We haven’t see how these files are being treated. If you move would make sure to cut all ties with Quebec so there is no concern you will return once you get approved. If you do want to settle in Quebec then would remain in Quebec.

Did you noticed any changes on your application? There are some people saying that the progress won’t change if it’s already deemed Quebec stream

It’s my home but with what’s going on in the world I can’t risk waiting 4 years. Being a refugee is already very traumatic, none of us want to live in fear anymore

If you are prepared to move outside Quebec for the foreseeable future move but if you are not prepared to cut ties to Quebec or want to move back to Quebec as soon as you get PR not a great plan.

I'm waiting for security screening. Other passed. Out of Quebec the time is around two years.

As long as you will not return back to Quebec right away you should be fine. Quebec often verifies that you got PR through Quebec to access some programs as a new PR. Would also anticipate having to secure housing and work out of Quebec because IRCC and Quebec are aware that people are trying to get processed outside of Quebec but some have no intention of remaining outside Quebec. They will likely want proof that you have settled in another province and no longer have ties to Quebec.

I moved and notified immigration. I have no ties with Quebec and i'm not planning to return. I'm settled in Alberta.

Hello everyone, I applied for PR from Quebec as a protected person on April 7th, 2023. That point in time, it was showing arond 24 months processing time for the protected person applicants. This April 7th that 2 year deadline was already passed. I only received a confirmation email from them after 6 months of my online application and also received another confirmation around 6 months ago from now, that they found my biometric on their system. So, I don't need to provide my biometric again. Now when I'm seeing that even people from 2021 are still waiting, I'm super worried. Is it really going to make the processing faster if I move to a different province? I know I have to cut all the ties with Quebec which I'm okay to do but if it doesn't make the processing faster, then spending my hard earned money to move to a different province will not make things easier for me. Thanks everyone in advance for helping me out with my questions.

Processing has gotten slower everywhere but longer in Quebec. The cost of living is lower in Quebec than many other areas of Canada and given the economy leaving employment without securing employment elsewhere also need to be a consideration. In general PR processing is going to be long for most protected people and Canada is about to go through a very difficult period economically.
