Hi Guys,
Just received request for RCMP Criminal Record check.
I live in Montreal and checked with my local SPVM Police Station but they told me they don't do that and referred me to SPVM Background Checks on St- Urbaine:

http://www.spvm.qc.ca/en/Fiches/Details/Background-Checks
But on their website they don't list a service to do fingerprints for Permanent Residence, and I can't get hold of them through telephone.

So I'm thinking I should just do it through one of those accredited companies listed on the rcmp website. Anyone has any experience of going to one of those in Montreal? Otherwise I'll just pick one and go there.

Also, can anyone enlighten me about where does this RCMP fingerprint/background request come into the whole application process? I mean does it indicate that my process is near completion?
I applied through CSQ-PEQ and my application reached Sydney, NS in November last year, so I'm not expecting anything anytime soon.

Thanks Guys! Being part of this forum has definitely helped throughout the whole process.

Hey guys. I just graduated with my bachelors and am hoping to get a PGWP that lasts until 2018. I might be planning to move to Montreal within a year and after looking at the processing times for PR I have a few questions about CSQ - PEQ:

After getting 1 years skilled work experience in Quebec, receiving CSQ and applying for PR do I have to remain with my employer until I receive PR? If not do I have to remain in a skilled position in Quebec?

Is it possible to leave Quebec or even Canada while you are waiting for PR? The processing times are very long and I may even have to return to my home country if I am unable to get an LMIA Exempt Work Permit.

Thank you guys :) I'm still waiting for my PPR though.

Yes - that is interesting indeed..
By the way - is there a web site we can consult to check the status of the PEQ?
(I haven't seen anything on the quebec immigration web site)

Hello Hosaid, do u mind sharing which date your application was received by cic ?

Documents received 18 July 2014,
File number and medical 10 October 2014
Medical done 25 October 2014
Processing application 29 May 2015
Request Police Certificate 28 May 2015

I had so many friends that they got PPR in last 3 days after 10 month processing.

I am reading more and more about PPC requests here. Did everyone get one prior to getting their CoPR? Up to now I always thought you only get a request if someone else in the RCMP database matches your name 50% or more.

Do you mean yes, as in you can leave the country while you wait for PR? Where does it say this? The Quebec Immigration website is vague sometimes.

im the same case i received request to make RCMP again from CPC ottawa 2 days ago, what's your timeline?

I did some research. So if CIC is requesting your fingerprints it's either because you are a citizen of one of the following countries:

Colombia, Haiti, Jamaica, Albania, Algeria, Democratic Republic of Congo, Eritrea, Libya, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Tunisia, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Burma (Myanmar), Cambodia, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Laos, Lebanon, Pakistan, Palestinian Authority, Sri Lanka, Syria, Vietnam, Yemen

or

"If your name has a 50% or more match in their data base, the RCMP may request fingerprints in order to confirm your identity."

yes im citizen of one of these countries, but also i provided RCMP before? do you know if i am close to DM or not ?

It certainly means that they are actively working on your file. If you check the QSW progress tracker you will see that early August applicants are starting to get their PPRs. That can help you to estimate the approximate processing time you have to expect. If everything goes well and they don't slow things down again you should be getting your PPR in about 2 months.

I mentioned my timeline, applied Federal in November 2014, got AOR/Medical in March 2015 and now the RCMP request last week in June.
How the trend is going with the normal QSW in-Canada apps, I was expecting it to complete by October this year, but now with this RCMP request, I'm not sure about the estimated time of completion. Because I've seen some FSW applicants recently getting their PPRs a few weeks after their RCMP request. But then again, FSW and QSW are two separate programs.
Let's how much more time it takes. It would be good if it completes earlier, otherwise just more waiting.

You really can't compare it to FSW. Their process is a lot faster. They are getting their PPRs after only 8 months at the moment. I don't find it fair that they are given priority over CEC and PEQ, those who are already living and working in Canada. But what do you want to do? It is the way it is.
