Hi guys,

Since I got a refuse to my PEQ because of starting a new study program (I explained my case previously here), I decided to submit an appeal with some new confirmatory documents plus a new PEQ application at the same time. I just wanna make sure about somethings.

1- for the question: Avez-vous présenté une nouvelle demande de certificat d’acceptation du Québec (CAQ) pour entreprendre un nouveau programme
d’études au Québec ?
I already have a new CAQ, but I am asking them in writing to cancel it, So what is the good answer for this question? YES or NO?

2- I will support my application by providing them the confirmation of PGWP application submission, It will take about 2-3 months to be issued, will it be sufficient for them or should i wait till receiving it?

3- If I got a job offer in Quebec now, what specifications should be included in it? Also I know that I could get a full time job while waiting the PGWP, but will the immigration Quebec be aware about that, since it is a new federal law, or I should attach a document proving that as well?!

4- Could the previous refusal affects the evaluation of my new application, so I should attach a cover letter with it explaining my situation? or it is a separate process and no need for that?

Thanks in advance

Hi again,

From what I know if someone got refused PEQ, he wont be able to reapply for PEQ (but only to the regular points-based system), but I would say you should definitely try again.
My advice for you is: Dont take any risks this time! If I were you, I would wait until you receive confirmation that your CAQ has been cancelled, and that you have a letter that proves this, and I would also wait until I have the PGWP. I hope it will not take more than 2 months. If you get another PEQ rejection, it means you have to forget about it, and apply through the regular program and wait for a year or more of processing time!! So better be careful. Also, if you can get a job offer before applying, that's even better. It will show that you really do not want to do a PhD and that you're serious about pursuing your immigration as a skilled worker.

All the best!

Hello everyone,

I am a PhD student studying in Montreal and I am going to finish my studies in this summer. While I was in my 2nd year I applied to CSQ through regular program but I was caught in the rapid changes of the immigration rules and procedures.

Currently my application is in suspended state and they sent me a letter stating that I don't have enough points and once I finish my studies I can send my degree certificates to improve my score and they will re-open the file.

However, once I finish I am also eligible for PEQ program. I have required level of french (Étude pratique du français oral niveau 5 - Université de Montréal) as indicated in the recognized list of courses. I think, PEQ will be the fastest way to get CSQ for me.

Before applying under PEQ I just wanted to make sure couple of things.
1. The fact that I have ongoing application under regular program will affect the issuance of CSQ under PEQ?

2. Do I have to pay application fees again? (I think, I probably have to pay as it's a different case)

3. Will they want make connections with my previous regular program file and PEQ file.
(I saw this question in PEQ application. "Avez-vous déjà présenté une demande de CSQ en vue de la résidence permanente? Oui/Non ,Si oui, à quel moment?". It seems to me that they only need the date and office of my previous application and not the details such as numéro de dossier et ref.individuelle)

I would like to know whether you guys had similar experiences and also your advise. I very much appreciate your responses.

Thanks in advance.

Hi friends,

After getting the CSQ I'm ready to apply for my PR. I'm just gathering all the docuemnts i need. I just received my hometown's police certificate, which is in Spanish and needs to be translated to English or French.

Can someone recommend me, in Montreal, an official translator to translate this document?

Cheers everyone

Can't help you with Spanish since I had to get my documents translated from German to English, however, this is where you can find all the certified translators in your area (it is also where I found mine). Hope that helps! :)

Hey,

For in-land applications, all applications go through an initial processing stage in Sidney, NS. The real processing of your application does not start until it has been transferred to Ottawa. That's when you get the update "We started processing your application on ____." Now the interesting part is that, like many other things with CIC, getting this update is random. I've seen many people who never got this update and that the only update they received (following 1 and 2 in the latter case) is "decision made". So you never know. They like to keep the process full of suspense!! :P

Hope this helps!!
