How fast are we talking about here?
Depends on the office.. the fewer applications they receive the faster. Let's just say several people who applied in july 2013 ( same as me) got their PR from paris by january. Problem with CPP ottawa is that there are many people backlogged for quebec.

This is the page for Paris. cic.gc (dot) ca/english/information/offices/missions/paris.asp

According to it, Paris office only responsible for applications from Algeria, Andorra, Belgium, France, Gibraltar, Libya, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, Portugal (including Azores and Madeira), Spain(including the Canary Islands), St. Pierre et Miquelon, Switzerland, Tunisia

Correctly me if I am wrong, for most of our PEQ applicants, we can not really send it there.

One more thing, from the processing time page: cic.gc (dot)ca/english/information/times/perm/skilled-que.asp

It takes 15 months in Paris and 20 months in Ottawa, how accurate are these data? Most of people I know only spend 12 month waiting. Thanks!

like i said there are different visa offices around the world so find the visa office that occupies your country. I only mentioned paris because there are many french people who apply through PEQ. CPP-ottawa is the visa office for those in canada. You have no obligation to stay in canada while they're processing your PR so it's perfectly fine to put your permanent address overseas. It would work best if you come from a visa exempt country and/or planning to travel outside of canada (which you have to put in your schedule A). There are those who apply outland to CPP-ottawa but they take even more time. I'm pretty sure if you're going to stay in canada for the duration of the processing then they automatically go through CPP-ottawa, so keep that in mind.

The processing times that are listed are excessively long and only a minority of applications actually receive it at the end of that time period. They put it like that for obvious reasons just in case there is an excess of applications or backlog etc.

Hi guys!

I am in the process of preparing the application package(with my common-law spouse) for federal stage. And I've got a few questions, hope you guy could kindly help!

Q1: This may sound stupid, but I've come across this thread: canadavisa (dot )com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/imm0008-csq-question-7-for-quebec-applicant-t175304.0.html
Basically the thread said spouse has to be approved by CIC in order to get a CSQ. But since the PEQ program, my spouse and I already got CSQs. Does that mean the procedure mentioned in that link does not apply to my case?

Q2: On IMM0008, question10. I obtained an open-work permit after my graduation here. So the status would be worker, but what about the duration? Is it the duration of my open-work permit OR since the first day I came to Canada till today?

Q3: IMM5652(Supplementary Information Your Travels), under question 2, it asks to list all the trips in the last ten years. Is this kinda the same question asked in IMM5669(Additional Dependants/Declaration) under the question personal history except you don't need to list those trips going to the countrues of resident?

Q4: Would it be fast if I did the medical exam first, and sent it along with the application?

Thank you all in advance!

For Q1, contact immigration quebec about that.

Q2, Your status would be post-graduate work visa with the end date on the visa.

Q3, I don't recall because I only have one person on my application but I would assume there are similar questions in case your dependent is somewhere else at the time etc.

Q4, you cannot do the medical exam first - you need to bring the sheet when you come to the appointment, which you will get when you get your AOR (30-60 days after it arrives to CIO-NS).

@ ornob no :'( neither from CIC or my con sultant. I am gettig worried and losing hope of getting it by October-November of this year (which would be exactly 1 year from when I submitted it).

As I said, I applied from within Canada to Sydney NS through the PEQ. I have tried to stay positive but a couple of friends applied through the exact same program at similar dated and seem to be more advanced in the process than me.

most of the people get their PRs within 1 year. though it varies. dont worry, everything will be in your favour.

whats the current status of your friends?? did they apply on october'2013?? and have they received the landing fee request yet?? it yes then when did they receive??

Majority of cases will be completed within 12 months since meds expire after a year.

Note that the Client Application Status tool is updated weekly, usually on Tuesdays.

does it mean that they update the ecas every tuesday??

Most updates are done on tuesdays but it can happen at any time of the day at any time of the week. I read around 40% of the updates are done then. I think there is a 3 day- one week delay from the time they update to the time its changed. Information/medical /passport request are a separate thing.

Let me know if you see a decision made on your CIC :) I don't need to send in my passport so I'm really only waiting for that status update.
