Hi!

Update:
I was asked to send additional documents: income for 2019. I think it is because a new family member was born in 2019 and we had an income shortage in 2018 for everybody....
I received the letter from the MIFI on the 5th June and sent documents on 16th June.

Congrats to all those who received! Can't believe the processing time is so long. I've only recently submitted. I guess I have a long wait ahead of me.

Hello all,

I am looking to sponsor my parents and wanted to clarify some questions before the program opens up again. I am in the process of moving from Ontario to Quebec and notice the income requirements for Quebec are different than other provinces (12 months instead of 3 years). Is there a reason for this, like the income must be income generated in Quebec? Can anyone also tell me if there are specific residential requirements if you are applying for Quebec. For example, do I have to have lived in Quebec for at least 12 months leading up to my application?

Hi, my situation was exactly like yours. I moved to Quebec after I received the Invitation to Apply. I do not know the exact reason for the difference in requirements but you do not have to have lived in Quebec for 12 months and your income does not have to be from here. All my income for 2018 and some from 2019 that I declared was earned in Ontario.
They just want to see your tax returns. If you happen to have a Provincial tax return for Quebec at the time, you submit that, if not, then just your fed.

Maybe other, more senior members can confirm.

Thank you that's a relief to hear. I just find it so strange that the financial requirements are different for Quebec, so I thought there might have been some other long-term residency requirement that I wasn't aware of.

Things could change for the next PGP so make so you'll need to look at the requirements. Would also depend on your situation and how you are working in Ontario and living in Quebec.
