Hi friends,
I got my pr under quebec investor category and I landed at Montreal airport on july 2014.At present I am living in Toronto as we are not having any friends or relatives in Montreal. In this forum I have read that a quebec investor have to settle in quebec.regarding this I called cic 3,4 times asking about this and they are replying Its not compulsory to stay in quebec I can stay anywhere in canada .still I am confused if there will be any problem for my pr renewal or citizen ship.I am under NV5 category. If anyone know about this plz help.Is there any other place than cic than I can enquire about this

It's compulsory that you meet the conditions of the Quebec investor program since you immigrated through this program. Otherwise you will not be able to renew your PR status or qualify for citizenship. What were the conditions of your Quebec investor application? Were you obligated to start a business / invest money in Quebec? If so, then you need to do this in order to keep your PR status.

Thanks for your reply.I have deposited 400k before getting pr for five years.if its compulsory why they are not saying me I have to go and stay in quebec..I called them 4 times asking this and I am getting same reply that I can go and do business anywhere in canada.

Hi Mammen,

I have also applied under the same program and my lawyer had advised me
that initially I will have to stay in Quebec for 3 to 4 months till the time all my
PR card & SIN etc. is done and after that I am free to work or live anywhere
within Canada at all without any hassles.

If you are still not sure what I would suggest is that you speak to any immigration
lawyer and discuss this to be 100% sure and to remove any doubts in your mind.
Also to avoid any issues later on when you want to take up Canadian Passport.
Lawyer may charge you US$ 150 or 200 or so to discuss this but you will have
peace of mind.

Will really appreciate if you can be kind enough to share your timeline and where
are you from. I have also applied same as your time but till date waiting for Abu Dhabi
VO to advise next process.

My file has come to Abu Dhabi VO almost a year back but nothing after that.

I am from India.we applied in 2010 and full procedure finished in 2013 Nov.As you said I will contact one immigration lawyer to end this confusion..I called cic including quebec immigration and federal too .I am getting same reply from both immigration. After consulting a lawyer I will let you know.

Thank you for the response and must say you are really really very lucky on this
because I have not seen anyone at least in this forum to have got their paperwork
done so quickly for this category.

I also had applied in 2010 but till date only file has landed in Abu Dhabi but nothing
after that and it is already 4 years finished :'( :'(. File has come to Abu Dhabi a year
back but nothing after that. I am from India as well.

Congrats Mammen,

I have same reservations of staying in Quebec or anywhere else. However, many visa and immigration lawyers do say that there are no restrictions attached to PR.

Hi Mammen,

I haven't reached Quebec yet. I've just cleared my medicals in August 2014, and then they asked for my dependant's letter from university to confirm dependent is still studying. Which I have provided them on 09 Oct 2014.

So, now I've given them everything from my end. My application is in process for the past 6 years and 7 months.... and my investment have already gone through the entire cycle. However, London Visa Office is replying very quickly nowadays to every query.

Which city are you in? How easy is it to settle in there? I was actually looking for someone who has reached there recently.

Oh... Okay. But, have you confirmed it from CIC or any other authorized party if it's safe (legally and for citizenship purposes) to live in another province if you applied via Quebec? Waiting for your keen advice.

So many quebec investor live in Toronto, edmonton. they didnt face any problem to get citizenship. even if you land other province's airport it's fine, even you can use other province's address (eg;if you land toronto airport, use toronto address) to send your PR card & cic will send pr card to toronto address.

Some time ago, I read THIS article.

My query is... What if they suddenly make a law stating that for PNP, they must provide proof of living in THAT particular province when applying for citizenship???
