Hi everyone,

sorry this has nothing to do with my application however I don't understand all this chat about how Quebec is different from Canada. When I get my PR does that mean I could not live and work in Canada? Not that I intend to but just wondering. Is it a closed border? Do Canadian from outside Canada can they buy property there or live and work there....Is just seems like Quebec is like their own little country. If that is the case thats sad for Canadian Unity.

Thanks.

no quebec is an essential part of CANADA, and is one of the original provinces to join the confideration, u can go work, live, buy and do watever u want there jst as u can in alberta,Nunavut, onatario, nova scotia....
this whole "quebec is diff than canada" thingie is jst a debate and althou belived by some its not reality it happens in many countries like switzerland each canton considers its self unique and different or the UK where the socts consider emselves to be a diff country as well as the welsh.

So why would you need to follow a difference process to get sponsored to live in Quebec? If I'm allowed to do all those things in other provicences in Quebec- should the application not be approved by the same people. Is CIC different or IO different from the rest of Canada.

look, canada is a federal country, with responsibilites shared between the Federal gov,the provinces and the muncipalites.

immigration and citizenship is a federal responsibility but provinces can chose immigrants based on their needs (provincial nominee),in quebec this is more evident and active due to quebecs unique status,it is unique, and quebecois are, by law(even thou symbolic),recognized as a "nation within a united canada", they can select who they want to enter their province but even if u have their approval this doesnt exempt u from the CIC requirments. but all this is really just symbolic u can land in vancouver and then move to montreal there is NO borders no nothings, canada is a free democratic country and reisdents have the right to move and live wherever they desire.

Hi, but when you land in Vancouver or Toronto and move to Montreal, will there be a problem with the health insurance?

problem no, it depends on the province ur moving to, if from ontario to alberta, u wud be eligable for health care directly but in provinces like quebec,BC and ontario there is a 3 months wait now if u have a health card from ontario and moved to quebec, ur OHIP card will still cover u untill u get the quebec health card.

Quebec has been "different" for the longest time. Though many here like to beleive it's a dependent nation, IT ISN'T! Once in Canada, if you so decide you can live, work & study in Quebec just as you can in any other province. All permanent residents living in Quebec are entitled to the provincial health care card here and access to all public health care services.

As far as the immigration process, Quebec is the ONLY province that has their very own rules whereas you must receive approval (a Selection Certificate) from them to land and reside here. I've never heard of anyone being refused or unapproved so I don't think you'd have a anything to worry about.

Along with this, Quebec has a lot of their very own set of rules that are different from every other province in Canada. Don't know if you knew, but Quebec is the ONLY province in Canada where you cannot change your name to that of your husbands after marriage (even if you agree to pay). Frankly I think it's ridiculous but that's Quebec for you. We are "allowed" to hyphenate our name but that's it!

Oh and we're taxed the highest in the nation! Joy!
