Hi,

I am currently an international student in Canada. I recently visited Montreal and loved the city! Thus, I am planning for Quebec PEQ. Here are my questions :

1) My 3 year Post Graduate work permit is valid in quebec ?

2) I am currently in process of getting a job in Montreal which is NOC Skill Level A. If I work in the same job for 1 year in Montreal shall I qualify for PEQ - Work exp. category with priority processing ?

3) Although my job doesn't require me to have french ability but Quebec PEQ requires atleast B2 Level Oral French. I have found few govt approved colleges for B2 oral french course which is of 4-5 months. Can i take them while I am on Post Graduate work permit as long as the course is less than 6 months ? (I know that if the course is greater than 6 months, I need to have study permit)

4) Thus, 1 year exp + B2 level oral french from govt approved college is enough to be eligible for PEQ - Work exp category ? Anything else which I should know ?

5) If I am able to get CSQ after this, my work permit can be extended if it takes long time for federal PR , right ?

Thanks for any help!

Sorry, I am not an expert but I do read a lot on forums and government websites so maybe my 2 cents help you. :)

1) My 3 year Post Graduate work permit is valid in quebec ?

Yes it is as it's to work anywhere in Canada.

2) I am currently in process of getting a job in Montreal which is NOC Skill Level A. If I work in the same job for 1 year in Montreal shall I qualify for PEQ - Work exp. category with priority processing ?

I had a quick read through this link and I believe you are eligible : http://www.immigration-quebec.gouv.qc.ca/en/immigrate-settle/temporary-workers/stay-quebec/application-csq/workers-peq/index.html

3) Although my job doesn't require me to have french ability but Quebec PEQ requires atleast B2 Level Oral French. You are absolutely right. Less than 6 month course you don't need a study permit.

4) Thus, 1 year exp + B2 level oral french from govt approved college is enough to be eligible for PEQ - Work exp category ? Anything else which I should know ?

That's more than enough

5) If I am able to get CSQ after this, my work permit can be extended if it takes long time for federal PR , right ?

Sorry, don't have idea of this. Maybe others can help

Thanks for any help!

Good Luck

Gymmy (Jimmy?) answered all your queries so lemme take care of the rest.

It won't take very long after CSQ to get your PR. Maybe 6-15 months.

Once CSQ is obtained, the federal govt. only validates your criminal and medical history. Skill and language ability has already been assessed by Quebec.

If you do run out of PGWP but hold a valid CSQ, your employer does not need to get an LMIA to get a work permit for you.

As always Excellent, Harvijay. Gymmy is fine till we meet in the real world :)

Off to Montreal next week for DLI change formalities. After that will start searching
for accommodation. Probable move in January.

Hope you are done with filing.

Cheers

Thanks guys for the help. I am pretty sure that I will be able to find a NOC Skill Level 0,A,B job in Montreal. PEQ is fast way to secure PNP (CSQ) and ultimately PR!

How did you get the 3 years PGWP?

If you studied in an eligible program in Quebec, maybe you are already eligible for PEQ...

The CSQ should take about 20 days to get, so I would not be worried if I were you about the expiration date of your PGWP. However, if you don't find an eligible job fast... of level 0, A or B (be careful too because CNP 2016 was published 2 weeks ago and it should be used by the MIDI by the time you apply for PEQ...), there is always a possibility of getting a closed work permit with a job offer.

I did not study in Quebec. I studied in Ontario. Thus, I am going for work experience peq route instead of study peq route.
