Hello Senior members and other friends,
I am in need of your valuable advice.
I am considering my scopes to apply for Quebec Immigration. I completed the online assessment on quebec website and it was positive.
Then I did this point calculation exercise based on the information posted on quebec website.
Have I calculated my points by correct way?
My quebec points assessment:

1.Education (24 points)

a.Master's Degree (Applied Chemistry) = 12
b.Points for area of training (if my degree equivalent to quebec degree) = 12

Note: I haven't consulted comparative evaluation quebec department but I've read all about quebec bachelor degree under university education system and I concluded that my degree (M.Sc. Applied Chemistry) is equivalent to Quebec degree.
(Ref link = www.immigration-quebec.gouv.qc.ca/publications/en/evaluation/fiche7.pdf)

Is that nessesary to consult comparative evaluation quebec department prior to apply QSW? , but it require alot of time......

2.Experiance (4 Points)
My education is Masters of Science (Applied Chemistry) which I completed in year 2000. It is 10 years now.
I have worked as Pharma Sales Executive from Oct 2000 to Feb 2006. and from March 2006 till now I am working in Life Insurance Company.
can I get points for my 1 years of experience as Pharma Sales Executive from 2005 to 2006 ( this period is within 5 years from now)? Is this work experience related to my areas of training?

a. 6 to 11 Months of relavent working experiance = 6

3. Age (16 Points)

a. 32 years age = 16

4. Language Proficiency (10 Points)

a.ILETS (Speaking = 6.5 band, overall=7 bands) = 4

b. French language =6
No level of French as on now. Will enroll for French classes. Considered as High Beginner ; 3 points for listening and 3 points for speaking.

5. Spouse Characteristics (9 points)
a. Bachelors's of Commerce Degree = 3
b. Areas of training: = 2
(Accounting major – section c of the areas)
c. professional experience: = 0
(more than 24 but less than 35 months)
d. Age: = 3
e.french proficiency = 1

6.Financial self-sufficiency: (1 point)
(having more than 5000 CAD for 2 persons)
TOTAL POINTS ACHIEVED = 64 POINTS

PASSING POINTS =63 POINTS (An applicant with a spouse or common-law/conjugal partner must score at least 63 points.)

Hi mkshah,

I think that the areas or training are a bit tricky because it would probably be at the discretion of the VO if they determine that your experience relates to your degree. I don't think there is a real guide for you to figure out yourself how applicable it is, so it would be what you believe vs what an IO believes. I also wondered what is considered equivalent to a Quebec degree. I have Bachelors and Masters of Business Administration from the US, but I'm thinking that they would not consider it as equivalent, but as foreign because it is not the Canadian system.

How did you give yourself 6 pts for French but you said you have no level of French right now?

In any case, you would only need to get a minimum of 57 points with your spouse to qualify for an interview, and then you could get a maximum of 6 points for adaptability at the interview. I hope some seniors could shed some more light for you.

HI caribgrl55,
Thanks for your reply.
Ohhh Dear... I didnt knew that about adaptability points to be decided at the time of interview.
But, which of the factors in my calculations should be considered towards adaptability so that I can deduct it from my overall points.

Regarding French, I got enrolled myself for Basic A1 level course of French as of now and am aiming at B2 level atleast by the time I got the answer from Quebec. so thats the reason, I gave myself 6 points on the level of loc intermediarie.

Hope others to correct me if my understanding is wrong.

Hi Mcshah,

I don't know exactly how they calculate the adaptability factor, but I know that it is based on things like how well you know the province of Quebec (political, laws maybe), your motivation and maybe your personality at the interview. The adaptability factor is at the discretion of the VO who interviews you. Someone, please clarify that for me.

Mkshah,

You work experience does not have to be related to your training. Please read the statement below from Quebec immigration website:
http://www.immigration-quebec.gouv.qc.ca/en/immigrate-settle/permanent-workers/official-immigration-application/requirements-programs/glossary.html#work-experience

Work experience

Recognized experience
The work experience by a skilled worker candidate must have been acquired:

* in the five years preceding the date of submission of an application for a selection certificate
* in an occupation with a skill level above “D” as defined by the National Occupational Classification (NOC)
* legally in the country concerned.

The following experience, which respects the aforementioned conditions, is recognized:

* experience that was acquired full time or part time in remunerated jobs
* full-time or part-time work internships as part of an apprenticeship, training or specialization recognized by a diploma, both remunerated and non-remunerated.

Inadmissibility of skill level “D” occupations
Work experience acquired in skill level “D” occupations as defined by the National Occupational Classification (NOC) is not admissible. Skill level “D” occupations are those that usually require a brief demonstration of the work to be performed, or on-the-job training or that do not have any particular educational requirements.

Hi sasa80,
no news yet!
I am expecting the AOR to pop up anytime now ... as its been 2 months now since my application was received by them in Montreal.
Looks like that the process is too slow :(

Hello Sir quebechopefull,
Thanking you for your reply. I request you to guide me about this.
I read somewhere on website of QUebec Immigration that:

AREAS OF TRAINING
Additional points are attributed to candidates who have earned diplomas or
degrees in fields with good medium-term job prospects. The List of areas of
training compiled with particular regard to Québec job market requirements.
(so, I will get points for my areas of training = 24 points)

The diploma or degree must have been obtained in the five years previous to
applying for a Québec Selection Certificate (QSC). If this is not the case, the
applicant must have worked for at least one year out of the five years in
question in a field directly related to the diploma or degree obtained and for
which assessment is being made.

(now this is somewhat tricky, does it means that if my work experience is not related to my degree, I will not get points for work experience. Does this also affect my points for training)

Now, My education is Masters of Science (Applied Chemistry) which I completed in year 2000. It is 10 years now.
I have worked as Pharma Sales Executive from Oct 2000 to Feb 2006. and from March 2006 till now I am working in Life Insurance Company.

I obtained my degree in year 2000 which is more than 5 years from now, so I need to have atleast one year of work exp related to areas of training. Pls see the data I taken from quebec immigratioin website.

My confusion is that can I get points for my 1 years of experience as Pharma Sales Executive from 2005 to 2006 ( this period is within 5 years from now)? Is this work experience related to my areas of training?

Mkshah,

If the MSc in Applied Chemistry is in the preferred list of areas of training, you might get additional points for the Pharma sales position if it is directly related to your degree. But that is all in the hands of the immigration officer reviewing your application.

Good luck.

Hi Every one,

I emailed the quebec embassy in Montreal about changing my credit card in the file, they replied asking to call by phone. I called them but they said they have many many applications and cannot simply search for my application without AOR. (Make sense? ).

They told me, when they will check my file, they send me asking for a new credit card number and will give me an AOR. At this point of time I can update it. The worst part, they said we have many applications and most probably will send you the AOR after 2 month from receiving the application.

This is montreal office,
Any recommendation?

Thanks,
- Khaled

Hey Khaled
yes that's correct about Montreal Office because we have here our friend indusvision who sent his application from Toronto in Aug 6 and he didn't get his AOR yet so it's almost 2 months to get your AOR from Montreal office ... isn't funny??? because there are alot of offices outside Canada take less than one month to send the AOR and we are here in Canada and it take more time lol anyways good luck for all of us

Thank you sasa,

What do you think about the credit card problem? Can they send me AOR without crediting my CC ? What I understood from the lady is she needs a number to track the file and update the credit card information on it.

I doubt they would send me a file number without having correct CC info. What do you think guys?!!!

Hi tag,

I'm not expert in the process but if you want to immigrate to Canada and you are not qualified for any other option than Quebec, go for it :)

You SHOULD start learning french. Hopefully by the time they accept you, you would get enough knowledge. If you couldn't find a job in Quebec, I think you can move as long as you got your PR you are free.

Good luck,
- Khaled
