Dear all,

Please confirm which address to send the applications from UAE?

Is this one correct:
Mailing address or by appointment only
Ministère de l'Immigration et des Communautés culturelles
285, rue Notre-Dame Ouest, 4e étage
Montréal (Québec) H2Y 1T8
CANADA
Fax: 514 864-9221
E-Mail : E-Mail form

Or is it the Nova Scotia - am confused about that..
We can send it by DHL, correct?

Also, I have noticed that most people on this forum are sending cheques/demand drafts etc....
what is the best method of payment?
If we use debit card (from UAE bank), will that be acceptable? And will we know immediately if it is approved? Wouldn't that be the most convenient then?

Hello, your first address is correct ,I have already sent my documents to Quebec which were unfortunately rejected due to lack of experience in the last 5 years.
You can pay by credit card or through Al Fardan cheques.
I heard that credit card payments from UAE were refused before ...Don't know am not sure ..let me know if ou get any clarification.
Good luck

Re: Quebec applications from UAE (and general payment questions)

Thankyou for the response...is it Al Fardan cheques or demand draft?

Since most people are using demand drafts valid for 3 months, my question is: Are you sure they will encash it within 3 months from when we send the application???
I know the AOR is expected to come after 4-6 months, so do they definitely encash DD before that?

thanks

what about the return address labels?
do we have to get our address printed in arabic and french, and just keep it in the envelope with the rest of the stuff?
do we paste any label on our envelope which we are sending?

Hi,

Sorry to hijack your post, EFK. While I'm not sure about the answer to your question, I had some questions I thought you might be able to help me with.

I am applying from the UAE as well and I have questions about filling in the application form for the QSW program. How do you write the address? The city is Dubai, the region is Emirate of Dubai, and the country is UAE. Is that correct? Or do you write down the area instead of city, like for instance: Deira, Dubai, UAE?

I'd appreciate anyone's input regarding the above. Sorry if it's a silly question - just want to do this right to avoid it from bouncing back.

Thanks in advance!

Hey Trixie,

I have usually put the city and region as Dubai, and the country is UAE - never really put Deira/Jumeirah etc in any application...
I would stick to Dubai, Dubai, UAE:)

Hope that helps!!

Under what AOT are you applying?

Brother Asad,

Please note that resident visa doesn't need to be attested, as per QSW checklist:
• Residence permit valid for at least one year, issued by authorities of the country where you currently reside (Photocopy)
They do not say certified true copy

My education was from UAE so I got my college to give me an attested copy of my degree.
Birth certificate photocopy was attested from my embassy...
Making them both "true certified copies"

Hope that helps.

Hi EFK,

Thanks for that! :)

I've got a degree in Business Administration. How about your AOT?

Are you a French speaker? I learned French for 6 years when I was in school and even gave my board exams in French, but the minimum level they require, which is B2 in DELF I believe, is much too hard, based on the practice tests I've tried online. Need to brush up on my French big time!

Hey!! same AOT:)
Even I did french in school, for about 12 years, and then did O level and A (or AS? I don't remember) level in it..
I had to brush up quite a bit and practice for a month or so...unfortunately I've forgotten alot since school days:(

But if you did well in school hopefully it will come back... and you can try to practice with someone it will help (I have a colleague who I only spoke in french for a month before my exam - and she corrected me whenever I was wrong)
Some practice tests online seemed a lot tougher than the exams...but ofcourse need to practice every single test inside out..btw i did TCFQ - before they were giving points for writing...I believe, from this forum, that its easier than DELF..so you can check when Alliance Francais has the next exam..

Yeah, I've been looking into TCFQ rather than DELF since I heard the same about it being easier. I feel like it will take me a couple of months of serious study to at least get to B2! I honestly wish that "Intermediate Advanced" wasn't the minimum threshold!

Listening is the hardest part for me. I've been to Paris and I spoke in French with several people without too much of a problem - I could communicate just fine because most of them spoke at a rather normal pace lol but the people on exam tapes go off like a speeding bullet!
