Proof of french in form of an assessment test e.g TEF, TEFAQ, DELF is REQUIRED by Quebec. Unless you're from a french speaking country, you have to take a test to show your knowledge of french. Trust me, they will request test results if you don't submit them with your application. This will in turn delay your application process.

Actually, I am enrolling for the DELF course from Allianc Francaise, it will have A1, A2, B1 and B2 levels, for all purposes this will be a very basic thing, I am not sure if the DALF part is required or the DELF will suffice?, DALF will have C1 and C2 which are advanced lvels of french. Seniors pls help will a DALF be required or will DELF suffice?

I am also going to start the application process now, so I will not have the certificate that I can submit with the application, but I am thinking of writing in my covering letter and clearly telling that I am enrolld for french and will scna and send the certificate as sson as I receive it--- will this be alright, I don't want to wait for 3-4 months for the french DELF certificate to start the process.

Pls advise the right course of action.

It completely depends on the office but B1 or B2 should be enough. I came in with B1. If you don't have any knowledge of French, I would suggest you to wait, however, to each their own. If it's not your intention to settle in Quebec then a basic level of French will suffice to pass the interview (you will have one, have no doubt on that) and as it was mentioned, it can take almost a year to get one, but if you intend to stay and live in Quebec, even if it's Montreal, you will need to have an advanced level of French, Quebec French isn't the same as the one you learn in the French Alliance, so it's harder to understand and even if you're in an advanced level, you will initially have trouble understanding people here. So my advice is to wait to learn some french and then apply, but it's up to you.

Hi Zygurn,

Thanks for the guidance, since my interview could be as far as 1 yr away, I want to start the process in the right earnest, before the list of training areas required changes and I become ineligible, I have read on this forum of people who didn't haveany knowledge and certificate and who gained it while waiting for the interview, I shall do the same.

folks does any one know when are the list of training areas is going to be updates, coz I will need to hurry up before it does.

Regarding living in Quebec or other provinces, it will depend on where I get a job, I am in the actuarial domain and am doing my qualification of actuarial fellowship from UK's actuarial society. If any folks here in acturial then pls connect with me.

thanks all the seniors here, you guys help every step of the way. I hope to see you all and myself in Canada.

AHBS,

There is no list of trainings for Quebec, there's a favored list, this means that you qualify mainly out of if you pass their evaluation even if you obtain 0 from the list of trainings, unlike with Federal in which your profession must be under a list of 38 to be even considered.

Have you thoroughly researched these people you say passed their interview with no knowledge of French? Maybe they had a spouse who spoke French? Did they stay in the province or just used it to jump to another one? Did they successfully establish in Quebec? My advice was mainly to think outside of the process, to think once you're in Quebec what will happen if you don't speak French fluently.

Hi Zygurn

i think ur right that french is necessary for quebec.. but dont you think that once at an intermediate level say 7 or 8...then the only way to learn further is to live in a francophone region..i know initially tough but then easy after some time..??

i think it will become easier if u know intermediate french

regards,
Shahi

Intermediate for passing the interview, yes, but for living in Quebec, definitely no.

hey Folks,

Wanted to ask is it mandatory to produce the employment contract which details the duties and resposibilities, or to produce the duties and resposibilities on a company letter head?
I have my employment contract which just says about my designation ( which is included in the quebec training areas list).

Can I not write about my duties and responsibilities on a seperate sheet of paper and attach the same to my other documents?

Pls advise folks.

Hey Folks,

Another question, I am applying for immigration for myself, although I am married, but I want to first get my PR and then bring in my spouse:

1) Do I still have to submit a marriage certificate?, I will be declaring that I am married, but since my spouse won't be accompanying me is the certificate required?

2) what is the family record book, I am not sure we have any ? is there a government agency which issues it? or I can detail my family members on a sheet of paper and submit as a covering letter, in lieu of it?
