No points given for French or English, what now?
I got a letter from MICC last week stating their intention to reject my CSQ app because I have only 39 points for employability and 40 points for total, 9 short of the 49 requirement. Upon closer examination of my scores, I found out I was not given any point for either French or English. I believe this is likely a result of me not submitting any French and English test scores.
I did my masters in French in Quebec, and I also did one year of PhD in French in Quebec as well before I left Canada. During the time I was submitting my app early 2013, agents from MICC said if I received French education in Quebec, French exam wasn't necessary, I'd still receive points for the French and English factors. But now it seems MICC operates differently. I am given 90 days to submit additional materials. Effective December 6, 2011, all new candidates in the Regular Skilled Worker Program who wish to obtain points in the selection grid for their knowledge of French (principal applicant: 16 points for oral and written knowledge; spouse: maximum of 6 points) and English (principal applicant only: maximum of 6 points for oral and written) must enclose with their immigration application attestations of results of evaluation tests recognized by the Ministère.To prove knowledge of French and English, candidates who submit an immigration application under the Regular Skilled Worker Program must provide the results of a standardized test, even if their mother tongue is French or English
I hope I may ask for advice here on what to do now. On one hand, I definitely heard about MICC toughening up on langue test requirement, on the other, many People have received CSQ without doing these, if they had French education in Quebec. Should I ask MICC to be more flexible or should I just suck it up and pay the 400 dollars and wait 2 months for a TEF or TCF test? since you did your masters in french blab blab blah it means you can write and have more than a B2 level, so suck it up ,pay the money and write the exams, with french results of atleast a level B2 you will add atleast 10 points so automatically making u eligible. Donc mon cher ami ne baisser pas les bras a la ligne d'arriveé
Second question is, does one need to meet both the 42 points for employability and 49 for total to pass, or as long as I pass either I am fine? if you meet the 42 points of employability i think automatically you will meet the grand total of 49
