Can we apply for a student visa to go and study in QC while our QSW PR is still pending? (because QSW process is now taking 18-24 months which is terribly long)

Or will the Canadian authorities see this as 'attempts to enter Canada faster through alternate ways'?

There is no one word answer for this question.

But If you show that course in related to your previous study, and proper funds available for your study, I think there should not be a problem.
Do not forget to mention about your QSW application, where applicable.

Even if they reject you, It will not make any difference in your QSW application, so do not need to worry about it.

Thanks Bachar, but as far as I remember changes with 16/25 points on DELF were introduced in september, maybe someone has older version?

But I should apply to a Quebec university only, right? Or any state is fine?

Apply to quebec one , so the process for your immigration will be faster and easier

Sounds good, thanks. But which one should I apply for first? Uni or Immi?

Thank you for your response. :D

May I still ask the following:

1. How much should I put in my bank account for me to have a positive assessment?

2. How long does it take for me to have my visa in QSW compared to FSW?

3. For the courier, is there any specific format upon submission?

4. My IELTS is one year old, can I still use it or should I retake?

5. Is the interview required or is there any instances that the visa officer won't require the applicant for an interview?

6. What are the key steps to follow on applying for QSW?

7. Can I stay in Vancouver upon receiving my visa?

8. Can I pay through credit card?

Thank you in advance.

nevillek,

If you still have not applied yet for CSQ and you are willing to go and study anywhere in Quebec, then I suggest you go for that option. The advantage is that you can move to Quebec in few months, however, the tuition fees will be much higher than if you were landed immigrant.

If you need to study in Quebec you need to apply for somehting called Québec Acceptance Certificate (CAQ), Once you get that you can apply for student visa/study permit. It's like CSQ, once you get it you can apply for the federal immigration. Check this link for more details:
http://www.immigration-quebec.gouv.qc.ca/en/immigrate-settle/students/index.html

There is a special program for Quebec student where they can apply for CSQ little before their graduation, and your chances of getting the CSQ increase if you know french very well. You need to start exploring that option and start reading more about the the options available for students to apply for CSQ. Check this link for more details:
http://www.immigration-quebec.gouv.qc.ca/en/immigrate-settle/students/stay-quebec/application-csq/index.html

Good Luck with that :)

This will help you calculate the financial requirements.
http://www.immigration-quebec.gouv.qc.ca/publications/en/dcs/A-0522-OA.pdf

2. How long does it take for me to have my visa in QSW compared to FSW?
You can expect anything between 12-15 months (minimum) for the whole thing. You can have a rough idea of current applicant's timelines by loooking at the Osamar's tracker or my tracker at http://bit.ly/QSWtracker
3. For the courier, is there any specific format upon submission?
Format ? I ddnt get your question. If its the order of placing docs etc, just refer the checklist.
4. My IELTS is one year old, can I still use it or should I retake?
Yes, you can use that. its valid for 2 yrs or so

5. Is the interview required or is there any instances that the visa officer won't require the applicant for an interview?
Technically if you clear well enough above the cutoffs, you dont need an interview. but most ppl end up with one anyways. so its very rare that you get a CSQ w/o an interview.
6. What are the key steps to follow on applying for QSW?
Apply and wait !! ;D and maybe even pray hard !
7. Can I stay in Vancouver upon receiving my visa?
There is an ongoing debate about this. I suggest you read some of the older posts in this thread.. but in short... QSW is similar to PNP program.Quebec nominates you for a PR and the feds grant it. you sign papers stating that you will learn french and integrate into quebec societe. so you are expected to stay and work in quebec. but its not like you're imprisoned there. if you dont get a job or something, you are free to move. its a free country. there are many people who landed and scooted the next day to toronto/vancouver. There are said to be risks of getting PRs revoked/cancelled because of this. though i've not come across anyone with that exp.

you have relatives in BC right ? your prof is on the FSW list too. why do you even want to endure this uncertainty of the QSW process. its not very transparent and tracking it is impossible. the wait is painful.

8. Can I pay through credit card?
BIQ, HK doesnt accept credit cards.

Thank you in advance.

thanks francaise. if one is not in the priority list how much time do we have to wait before we are called for an interview?

Processing time varies depending on the country. Please follow the link given below:

http://www.immigration-quebec.gouv.qc.ca/en/immigrate-settle/permanent-workers/official-immigration-application/immigration-application/processing-times-table.html

regarding studies in Canada.... if you are granted a CAQ, then is it guaranteed that a student visa will be granted ? bcoz to apply as a student, you need to prove that you will return back to homecountry once you're course is over etc. This 'ties to home country' is the biggest hurdle.

does anyone have an idea about it ?
