Total complete applications received since July 1, 2011

On July 1, 2011, the eligibility criteria for Federal Skilled Worker applicants changed.

Between July 1, 2011, and June 30, 2012, a maximum of 10,000 complete Federal Skilled Worker applications will be considered for processing. Within the 10,000 cap, a maximum of 500 Federal Skilled Worker applications per eligible occupation will be considered for processing within this same time frame.

Starting November 5, 2011, CIC will accept a total of 1,000 applications from international students who have completed at least two years of study towards a PhD and or who graduated from a Canadian PhD program in the 12 months before the date their application is received by CIC. Find out more about eligibility for this category or see the number of applications received to date on this site.

These limits do not apply to applications with an offer of arranged employment (job offer).

Applications received toward the overall cap: 4,459 of 10,000 as of November 29, 2011

*The number of complete Federal Skilled Worker applications received as of November 29, 2011 is approximate.

**Once the cap has been reached, we can only accept applications for this occupation from people with an existing offer of arranged employment.

Note: Due to the high volume of applications we receive, the CIO cannot review each application for completeness on the same day it arrives at the office. The numbers on this page are updated at least once a week, but these figures are meant as a guide only. There is no guarantee that an application sent in now will fall within the cap by the time it reaches the CIO. We are looking into ways to minimize the effect of this on website updates.

Applications received from PhD applicants:

Applications received toward the overall cap: 23 of 1,000 as of November 29, 2011

FROM CANADA:
A BETTER WAY TO TREAT IMMIGRANTS

Best practices in high-skilled immigration policy can be witnessed in Canada. The government has consistently promoted Canada as a destination for immigrants and prides itself on having a fairly open and straightforward immigration process. In 2010, Canada welcomed 280,636 immigrants while the U.S. accepted 1,042,625 -- on a per capita basis less than one-half of the Canadian figure. Under the Canadian immigration system there are three categories: economic, family reunification and refugee. The economic class is based upon a detailed points system that calculates relevant skills. Canada, with a population one-tenth that of the U.S., accepted 186,913 "economic immigrants" in 2010, accounting for 66.7 percent of its total. These immigrants unquestionably contribute to economic growth, job creation and increased demand for housing. In contrast, the U.S. currently caps employment-based visas, including those with extraordinary skills, professionals holding advanced degrees, skilled workers and professionals, special immigrants (e.g. religious workers), and investors, at 140,000, or just 13.4 percent of all immigrants.

Toronto alone absorbs approximately 100,000 immigrants per year, the vast majority high-skilled (or members of Richard Florida's Creative Class) under the economic category and has transformed its economy. In addition, Canada is home to 981,137 temporary foreign residents, the majority of whom are either foreign workers or foreign students. Temporary foreign residents can apply for permanent residency in Canada under the "experience class."

What is this calculation, i really don't understand. The professions that has not reached the CAP has the possibility to apply for this year?

My Occupation is NOC 4152 Social Worker that has not reached the CAP, this means that i have time to send my application before reachs that?

Ohh no but this has nothing to do with us, is for Federal Skilled workers. Uhuhuhhu i am relaxed now 8)
Yes Lirjan, that doesn't apply to our program but I have post it just to give an idea of the professions. I don't know if it may cause any influence for the persons applying for Quebec, We will need some help from the seniors to understand it better anyway as it was the latest news in the website of Canada I thought to post it.

Hello sir,

1. I have competed my Master degree ( Post Graduate) in Mechanical Engineering within 5 years ( September, 2007) of my application ( August, 2011) for permanent residence in Quebec. But, I have completed my bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering before more than five years( July, 2004). Will I be eligible to get points for training as well as for Master of mechanical engg. or my application get faster processing?

I have 4.5 years experience in Software engineering and not in Mechanical engineering within 5 years.

As Bachelor degree in mechanical Engineering is listed in list of area of training Pdf file. That's why I am making the question.

2. My DELF A2 score is 14.5 ( Avg of CO and PO), which is less than 16. How much point may I get based on this result in french proficiency.

Thanks

Hi all,

Anyone can share their experience about getting all 6 points for Adaptability after the interview?

Is it hard to get them? Assuming you researched and are knowledgeable about topics like:

- Your knowledge about Quebec (labour market, economic sector you are interested to integrate in, way of life),
- The approaches you have done in order to facilitate your social and economic integration (job search, language improvement efforts, credential and certificates required for regulated occupations, housing, etc.)
- Personal qualities that will help you successfully develop your professional activities (ability to emphasize your knowledge during an interview, knowledge about the difficulties you will have to face as an immigrant, your comprehension about the values of Quebec).

The last part, about personal qualities, I guess that is something you can not get ready to. You'll be assessed on first impression, how you behave etc...

I just keep wondering what could be the grounds for not receiving all 6 points... Because my life literally depends on whether I'll get all 6, or no  :-X

Hi....

Anyone can tell me about fund required for individual appliacant.

1) i have only 1,20,000 (Indian Rs) cash in bank.
2) 42,000 rs in the form of ULIP (United Linked Insurance Plan)
3) Shares 30,000 (Indian RS)

a) Is this sufficient or i have to add extra fund in my account. Also can anyone tell me is it mandatory to show my cash in bank in the form of Fixed Deposit (5 Years)or i can show as RD.

b) Also, when i'm applying to my BIQ (Hongkong), i have to attach 6 months Bank Statement ot Any bank. What would be the minimum amount required? i'm confused about this part... Anyone can explain me.....

How can i show my financial Condition in a best manner and what documents required for that?

Once again........... thanks to all members here.
