my personal thinking is that they haven't awarded you points for ur M.com rest they know better cos the AOT for U074 is at University Level.nevillek said:Hey Umer.. i think so they have awarded you 6 points for your educationnevillek said:Hi guys.. here are all my details to understand my case better as I am myself not able to figure out why they declined my application:
Education: B.Com. (Specialization: Finance and Accounting) 3 yrs completed in 2009
M.Com. (Specialization: Management) 2 yrs completed in 2011 (Distance Learning)
Please have a look here and select Inde: http://www.cicic.ca/682/tableaux-comparatifs-de-diplomes-quebec.canada to open the PDF "Tableau comparitifs des diplomes Indiens"
Experience: Part-time Accounting Assistant in a CA firm (2008 to 2012) that's equivalent to 2 yrs of full-time work experience
French: A2 in Oral Comprehension and A1 in Oral Expression
My IELTS score gives me full points in English and other things are fine. Can someone please do the points calculation for me? According to me, it's 50 points.
Please have a look at this page in which they have ticked only the AOT option as the reason for refusing my application: http://imm.io/KCCU
According to me:
1) It can't be rejected because of the job being part-time (4 hrs x 6 days = 24 hrs/week) because they have clearly mentioned that they do accept part-time work experience.
2) My French score is low but they have not marked that as a reason so it can't be that either
3) I am just confused if they have not granted me those 2 extra points for my Masters degree because it was obtained through Distance Education. I am also confused if it's because my M.Com. is specialized in Management and not Finance and Acctg. unlike my B.Com and work experience. If that's the case, my total would be 48 points if M.Com. degree is not counted.
But if the problem is not because of the M.Com. degree but indeed with the entire AOT/work experience, then that won't help at all because the deficit will be full 6 points of AOT then and not just 2 points of M.Com. degree.
My consultant (Y-AXIS) feels that this is an error on BIQ's part and are going to re-send the application but I don't really think that would help. I am waiting for my DELF B1 main certificate which will arrive in December so I can show a total of 6 points in French (B1 listening, A2 speaking) instead of the 3 points right now and maybe that would help in case the problem is only with the M.Com. degree. But if it's with the AOT, I don't know what to do!
Wow.. I'm lost... have written to BIQ, HK and waiting for their response.. Please do help me guys if you can throw some light on anything.. Thanks

nevillek said:Bro, my AOT (B.Com. in Finance/Acctg) is U024 Comptabilité et sciences comptables (BACC. - 3 ans), check on page 2 here: http://www.immigration-quebec.gouv.qc.ca/publications/fr/divers/domaines-6.pdf
It belongs to "Diplôme d'études universitaires 1er cycle - 3 ans" which should give 10 points for Education as per http://www.immigration-quebec.gouv.qc.ca/publications/fr/divers/Grille-synthese.pdf if M.Com. is not counted and 12 points if M.Com. is counted.
And ofcourse, A.O.T. should give 6 more points as per
http://www.cicic.ca/682/tableaux-comparatifs-de-diplomes-quebec.canada (select "Inde")
So 10 or 12 points for Education (depending on whether they count M.Com. or not) and an additional 6 points for A.O.T. without a doubt. Correct? If they gave me 10 points for Education by not counting the M.Com. degree then my total is 48 points and I am 1 point short, which I can cover up by sending my DELF B1 certificate next month. But if the problem is something else, I don't know what to do or what the problem is.
I think I shouldn't have shown them the M.Com. degree at all because not only is it Distance Education but it specializes in Management instead of Accounting (U024 Comptabilité et sciences comptables) and maybe that could have created the confusion too.
I just don't know until BIQ, HK replies to me and tells me what the problem is.
There could be two reasons:nevillek said:Hi guys.. here are all my details to understand my case better as I am myself not able to figure out why they declined my application:

As far as I know, it's okay if your work experience is not related to your degree if it has been obtained in the last 5 years. So that should not affect AOT points, correct?grande_folie said:There could be two reasons:
1. Always BIQ considers highest education, As you did M.Com in Management but your work experience is in accounting that's why, they gave you 0 point in AOT.
2. Your m.Com is in distance education, this might be the reason also.
If you Show only B.Com this time, you will get 6 points in education not 10 because only 4 years or more than 4 years of indian university course or your AOT should be in priority list get 10 points .
As you have showed your M.com education, This might be less possibility that they delete M.Com from your profile.

There are two conditions:
1. if you obtained your degree in the last five years and your work exp is not related to your education then in that case you will get 0 point in aot.
2. if it exceeds five years and your education is not related to your work exp then you will get 0 point in aot as well as 0 point in work exp.
Secondly, so many B.Com. graduates do MBA and MBA is never in accounting, it's in finance, marketing, HR, etc...and then they may get a job in accounting.. so how are they accepted? yes i agree, but your work exp is related to your b.com not mba.
Can you provide me the source which says you need 4 years of an Indian university course to get 10 points? Did you check out the links in my last 2-3 posts that show B.Com. (BACC-3 yrs) should get 10 points?
