On December 6, 2012 I was at the parliament in Ottawa during its lighting. There were representatives from all the canadian provinces and they promised that the economy will be improved as of 2013. I guess this strike is a good example of their promises. I dunno if Canadian-citizen was there too and heard the same talk.

Nope, I wasn't there. Eventhough I live in Ottawa, I don't really attend many events here. I guess too busy to have a life or maybe because I live here it's like boring to me now lol..but i loveeeeeeeeeeeee skating on the canal...my favorite thing in the world haha

Alert – Strike Action

The Professional Association of Foreign Service Officers (PAFSO) union is currently taking strike action. PAFSO union members responsible for processing visa applications have been walking out of offices in Canada and overseas.

Posted processing times for both temporary and permanent resident visa applications do not take into account work stoppages.

Anyone applying for a visa should anticipate delays and submit their application as far in advance as possible.

Contingency plans are already in place to ensure all offices remain open and are providing at least a minimum level of service. Priority will be placed on urgent humanitarian applications.

CIC continues to closely monitor the situation.

It said that this will open the door to the adoption of the Expression of Interest (EOI) model for the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) and possibly other economic immigration streams.

I also don't think it's fair. They wasted 3+ years of our lives. Plus, I'll only believe in this new system when I see it implemented...because they will just make it harder for people to immigrated with more rules. Bottom line, the conservative government are not fond of immigration, and we are an example of this!

LOL even if it's on the website doesn't mean it's true. The conservative government have a commercial on TV saying how the governement will give grants for employees to get better training to find better jobs yet it hasn't been approved yet. In small letters it says "subject to government approval". So they just like to give people false information.

that means to process new applications fast and delay the old ones more!!? anyway i am 2013 applicant hope that works even though my CAIPS says other things so far..

1- Change wife profession
2- Add my brother in law as resident in Montreal

Can anybody advise if it will affect badly on the process time, they will consider the date of the update as start of the application and I have to wait another 24 months?
Please I need a real answer without feelings , I mean real experience

Those are not (major) updates . Such as change of address , change of status , newborn... So without feelings you shouldn't bother (you and them ) for such updates.

I hate to be negative about this, but this is not the first time they promise finishing backlogs and providing faster immigration systems. If you go back to the news releases of 2011 and 2012 you'll find many articles with the same content and yet here we are !!
