Yes the embassy will be closed and it is about time, they are doing nothing there, i think it is a very good news, at least some competent Canadians will be working on our files not Syrians.. almost 25 months waiting for those damn meds just because arabs took over the work on the applications after the Canadians were evacuated. even if those arabs didn't have computers and working with big books like during the times of the ottoman Empire they should have processed our applications by now.. all my friends got their meds after 15 months from their AORs.. i have been waiting 25 months for Christ sakes! My CSQ will expire in Dec 2012 and god knows what i shall do if they didn't issue my visa by then..

If you were issued a PR visa, you have a deadline (one year from the date of the medicals) in order to enter the Canadian soil, should the CSQ be still valid before then ? or it can be expired?

My CSQ expires somewhere in the beginning of 2013

true but the CSQ should be valid at the time of issuance of the visa but it doesn't matter if the CSQ expires when you enter canada as long as the visa is still valid

alright, I just got off the phone with the embassy in syria, here is the situation:
*confirmed: embassy is closing indefinitely
*files will be transferred to Beirut within 10 days
*we will be contacted after the arrival of our files (time not specified)

furthermore , my friend Jet, I personally m worried about this transfer to beirut, there is a reason why the embassy in lebanon all these years was not given responsibility more than a visiting visa issuing, and furthermore only 1% are canadians working within the embassy, I truly hope that the CiC will be sending a team to lebanon to handle our files for competence sake, and lets not fail to mention the local corruption which made the CiC not to give responsibility to that branch specifically. there are many articles and videos on the web related to these details, google away and ye shall find.

cheers,

So what do you think now ??

Will they continue our processing times or they will start from beginning .

Alright gents, just to make it clearer, our files will arrive to the embassy in Lebanon on the 5th of February, unpacking and sorting them out should take about another 5 working days, get your phones ready starting on the 10th day, we need to apply a little pressure on behalf of the over-exceeded-time-applicants just to show them that we are not relaxed about the situation and they shouldn't be relaxed about it either.

cheers!
