Quebec applicants 2010(Damascus) waiting for medicals

Hi Everyone, we have been following this thread for some time now and find it very helpful. We have our medical exams today, but we sent our police certificate to the US for FBI clearance as we were living there for some time. It will not be sent back to us before 4-6 weeks, so we will send in proof that we have requested it and that it takes time to be processed anyhow, but we also got the Lebanon police certificate.

A quick question about the army exemption card, do you think informing them that you served as part of the obligatory service would delay the clearance or the process?

I booked the ticket on tuesday 8 of oct .. As one way ticket with a very cheap price .. just 527$ .... The quatarian airways.

I am going to live in montreal in spite .. i don't know anyone there

You'll be here during the fall, preparing urself for the winter. All the trees are changing to red now.
Don't bring lots of clothes, buy everything from here cause winter clothes bought from Leb won't keep u warm.
In case u have any questions I'd be glad to help. I'm going to mont tremblant tomorrow since it's gonna be nice and sunny outside...
Best of luck in ur trip. Keep the ticket as a souvenir cause it is rare to see someone booking a one way ticket to Canada

Congrats on the medicals... Your Mandatory Army service should not delay your file (not to my knowledge that it does). What is your Visa office and where are you doing your medicals?

I was told by the foreign services office in Ottawa that military service can affect/delay the background/security checks, because the person held a weapon. However, I don't think the delay is too significant from those who were not in the military.

Everything has been cleared from documents to medical except the background check where they take their time asking about the applicant's history.
There is no BFD for the meantime and I was asked to do another follow up in 3 months time in case I don't hear anything from the embassy, making it a wait period of 5 months since I submitted the docs.
This is really frustrating and there's no choice but to wait

It is mostly based on the military and criminal record... In my case I was in the military 12 years ago, add to it the criminal record check in Lebanon and Saudi Arabia.
They're working file by file and I am sure there is not priority treatment for anyone. There's a 3rd party in Lebanon working on the security check and we all know how things are there, it's all unorganized.

As you know, when it reaches December, they'll all take vacations and things will start moving slower.
I guess they knew what they were doing when they asked us not to contact the embassy for the 8 months after the docs submission

Just came back from the physician office, it was easy and fast check up, they told me that they immediately upload the results online when available, if something wrong with medicals the UK labs request a follow up with the applicant within a week which means there is no long wait for medicals to be finalized but the background check is the longest part..

Dont worry. Diginty had stayed in many countries b4, and he got it within 6 months.
As for me i am in dubai since 2003..
You also in ksa..

Im sure your case gonna be fast. Gulf security checks harder. They will take records from ksa, that will help lot.
Already its 3 months for you. Next spring youll be there 100% weather became So nice.

I think it will be before January. Don't lose hope...it's already been 3 months since the meds and right now it seems the average is 6 months.
