Hi medo, yess no news, the next session of interviews should be october-november-december, let's see where they will call us..., if they wanna send us invitations they will do it before interview with 1-2 month, so this mean that half august-september we should have news, invitations and CSQ!!! it was really a long wait, they told us 8-9 month for the interview,we have already 1 year waiting....:(

the Federal wait time has been increased to 20 months - Damascus

well I'm Lebanese i reside and live in Lebanon, i have a lawyer who is assisting me, i applied for the CSQ in June 2009, i got my interview in December 2009 in Damascus, i didn't apply for any french exams because i already have a good french and it showed in the interview. then i didn't waste any time and i applied to the federal part and i got the AOR in January 2010. i don't want to discourage or frustrate anyone but 19 months have passed and i haven't a word. the only news i got was that they evacuated the Canadian staff from the embassy in Damascus.

AAAAA u already got CSQ and applied for the federal part....so u are at the end of the road...don not worry, soon u'll get ur medicals....
We have 12-13-14 month still waiting for interview, so for u no worries. After medicals 3-4 month u are in canada.Have faith!

Just got off the phone with the embassy in Damascus and got a confirmation that the embassy is still functional, so everyone no need to panic they are being super slow and your applications are still being processed or on waiting list, as posted earlier "they are now processing applications received prior to January 2010" that means any application up to December 2009 is being processed AT THE MOMENT and the next ones right after that batch are January 2010 and on , so applicants that are waiting on their medicals like myself don't worry it shouldn't take more than another 6 months of wait (too too long overall) depending on what month you got your AOR, furthermore to everyone else you should be aware that the time table for Damascus has been raised to 20 months now for total processing (federal only).
hope this updated info has shed some light and reduced panic to many of you, will keep you updated if i find out any useful info to share.

Best regards,

Hi, Lmastory,
Let me confirm with you,
They are processing the application received before January 2010, that means the second (Federal application),
I have received my CSQ on the 28th of September 2010 and then applied for Federal, and my Status shows "In Process" and that they have received my Application on November 1 - 2010, Around 9 Months Ago. So they still away from processing mine, or you are talking about the first one for Quebec.
Can you please give me more details.

Regards,
Akram

Hi Akram, what m referring to is the Federal process after you receive your AOR including your barcode application number and not the CSQ which is a previous step, those that are awaiting their medicals are the ones in topic for processes before January 2010 only.

best regards,

my friend applied in July 2009 for the federal, he got his meds in Nov 2010 , so he only waited 16 months ! anyway the Federal wait time used to be min 9 months last year and then for our bad luck it started to increase gradually, now it is 20 months and i bet it will keep on increasing.. >:(

The latest news from Immigation-quebec.gov:

New

The Bureau d'immigration du Québec in Damascus is closing and its activities relocated to Montréal

The Ministère de l’Immigration et des Communautés culturelles wishes to inform its clientele that the Québec Immigration Office in Damascus is now closed. All immigration activities there have been transferred to the Ministère’s offices in Montréal.

The Ministère would like to reassure its clientele that it is committed to diligently pursuing its Middle Eat activities. When necessary, the Ministère’s selection interviews with immigration candidates from the Middle East will take place in neighbouring territories easily accessible to the clientele. This practice, which is standard for the Ministère, is already used in several territories.

No change for the other immigration categories

The businesspeople sub-category o will not be affected by the closure because the files are already processed in Montréal. Moreover, there will be no impact on applications in the family category since, for several years, these files for all territories on every continent have been processed exclusively by mail from Montréal.

PRACTICAL ADVICE
All information on Québec’s immigration procedures can be found on the website of the Ministère de l’Immigration et des Communautés culturelles. Please make sure to first consult our site as well as the Questions and answers section before contacting us.

IMPORTANT : Please note that due to the repatriation of activities to Montréal, there will be a delay in sending you the letter confirming that your file has been opened. However, rest assured that this letter will be sent as soon as your file has been opened.

Otherwise, assume that we have received your message and that the processing of your application is underway. If you have documents to mail us, do not forget to take into account that it could take several weeks for use to receive them.

Does this apply to Federal files or only Quebec files?

actually this question came into my mind as well. however as per several articles i saw in cic or elsewhere it seems that the federal Intake office is a different division in the embassy as the quebec office so we can assume that federal office is still working there from the other hand it is also probabale that all the applications regardless if they are in selection procedure or in federal progress may have been transferred to montreal.

this is what we should wait for a clarifications from our friends in the threat who are challenging with the CSQ or goanna send their federal applications soon.

let's see what comes next ...

Thank you Kia, from the way things are looking and the situation there, it seems that there is still a loooong way to go for both of us :(

hey buddy

yes ... u know what ... i am also counting secs to receive this always waiting visa ... however sometimes i think that we know what destiny is really cooking for us... we dont have any idea how future will be looking like however whatever happens we will do our best ... now i am trying to concentrate on all activities i am doing here like i have never applied for immigration and the upon we received our visas we will act like a person who does not have anything to do in his/her country and will focus just on his new plans to develop his ideas as well as his new country ...

u know what, from the ecnomical perspective, i beleive this is canadian economy who is losing .... there is many energies from all young and ambitious people waiting in the ques being wasted which could be spent for developement of their new country here Canada so i think they should really do their best to expedite the procedures if they really beleive that immigration is one of their key factors of the growth ...

hope things goes well soon
