Qualifying Work Experience

Hi, I have a quick question re Canadian work experience for Express Entry.

I'm in Canada right now and have been accepted into the pool with my current credentials, but so far I have less than one year of work experience here - however - when I do get to one year and update my express entry profile, does the type of work have to be of a certain standard?

E.g Would I have to be doing a job that is considered skilled rather than just (let's say) working as a waitress?

Or can any/all work count towards working in Canada for a year?

Is there a measure used to decide what work is worthy of being classed as Canadian work experience?

I know for CEC and I'm 99% sure for receiving points for Canadian experience that the work needs to be skilled in class (0, A or B).

As doubleym said, it has to be of a certain skill.

To be considered for the Canadian Experience Class, you need to have Canadian skilled work experience within three years of applying. According to the Canadian National Occupational Classification (NOC), skilled work experience means:

•Managerial jobs (NOC skill level 0)
•Professional jobs (NOC skill type A)
•Technical jobs and skilled trades (NOC skill type B)

Thanks, I can probably be classed as class B. Hoping to get an ITA before the one year point arrives anyway (aren't we all!) fingers crossed!!

probably? Did you not include an NOC code for the job on your application?

Don't worry I'm not that daft - I'm a qualified chartered accountant with 6+ years of foreign work experience so yes I have the correct NOC code in my express entry profile for that (hence being accepted under FSWP) however as I have less than one year work experience in Canada at the moment and in a much lower job than a CA I have had no need to put an NOC in for this yet in my profile as <1 year Canadian experience is nil points - but when the time comes I will need to update for a years worth of experience, at which point I'll have to figure out the NOC for my current role - kapeesh?
