surely my 4 years apprenticeship combined with my HNC (higher national certificate) in engineering done over 4 years at college 1 day week must be worth something? (this is attending classes for 4 years)

with regards to applying to see how i get on, this is a good idea, but with regards to an application, if i applied thinking i had say 72 points, and then the visa office calculated that i had less, how quick would this happen?
jim
In most cases, a maximum of 90 days from the date your application is received by CIO. This is what is called an Eligibility Review.

hi NKKD
thanks
is there a thread somewher that explains the full process
what i am thinking is that -

i think i have enough points, therefore can i apply to see if i am eligable through points (eligibility review?)
i assume if i have enough points, my applicatiojn will then go into the system?
i also assume if i do not have enough points my application will be rejected?

so how long does this take, as this is probably the easiest way to find out if i have enough points?
am i right?

When you will send you application to Sydney Canada, they will assess your application and issue a Positive Elligibility Review... Happens within 1-2 months.
If you get a Positive response, then they will send it to you visa office.
The Visa Office will go through it again and if everything is ok you will get request for Medicals or if anything is missing they will issue a notice. But if any response from Visa Office showing you are moving forward, it will mean you are in. Though the Visa Office timings are all unpredictable. Though judging from the cuts etc etc, you should have a clear picture in less than 5-6 months.

BUT off course when you will get the PER from Sydney, it would be a major step.

I had NO IDEA how complicated they made the calculation of education points. If you have time you might want to read through the link on this thread for more understanding of what they are looking for. Good luck.
