Dear Qorax & Leon,

I would like to appreciate & congratulate of both you for the hardwork and exceptional time and effort put in to help so many forum users around the globe.

I have sent medical results along with the RPRF and passport's of myself and my dependants(Spouse and daughter) 3 weeks back & the E-cas status also show "Medicals received"

I have a query w.r.t to landing, which I think both of you and other senior members will be in a better position to answer.

If things go our way and if the GOD wishes so, we expect our PP's with the stamping by the end of July 2012 and plan to land in september-october.Please help us in choosing one of the two available options for landing:

A)All of us go together.Me and my spouse does all the landing formalities (like apply for her PR card and SIN number) and goes back to India, to retrun after 5-6 months.

Queries:

i)How can I send her and child's PR card back home(India) before they plan to come permanently(5-6 months later)?

ii)Do we need to declare the list of goods that will follow later at the time of landing.

iii)Can I apply for my(PA) health card and start using it and apply for thier health cards once they land later? Will their card's come come in the three months period then?

iv)Should I take my med.insurance for the first three months and later take another policy for them also?

v)What all docs I need to send over to them to prove that I(PA) landed 5 months back and they are joining me now?

OR

B)I go alone and my wife and child follow later (before their PR expiration date)

Queries:

i) Does this go smoothly or their might be some gliches for them? Do they need to be cautios when dealing with immigration officers.

ii)What all docs I need to send over to them to prove that I(PA) landed 5 months ago(ALONE) and they are joining me now?

iii)Do I need to show the POF for all three of us, first time I land. Or is it necessary for her also to show POF when my spouse enter canada at POE.

I have been browsing through the forum threads and I have observed that most of the PR holders do the landing together. Are there any reasons behind this? Will it be difficult for my wife and daughter to land after me.

Your expert advice and guidance will help us plan our landing in a better way.

Thanks & Regards,

Queries:

i)How can I send her and child's PR card back home(India) before they plan to come permanently(5-6 months later)?
Ans: Send them by post/courier, if not someone carrying them personally. It's not allowed, but ppl do it all the time. There's one risk though -- the package getting lost in transit -- in which case they could obtain a PRTD to reEnter Canada (issuance of which, usually, is not denied).
ii)Do we need to declare the list of goods that will follow later at the time of landing.
Ans: Yes, if u want to avoid ur goods attracting duties.
iii)Can I apply for my(PA) health card and start using it and apply for thier health cards once they land later? Will their card's come come in the three months period then?
Ans: Yes. And yes, their cards would arrive by 2-4 weeks after u apply theirs [applicable when they reside here for 90-days, in case of Ontario.
iv)Should I take my med.insurance for the first three months and later take another policy for them also?
Ans: Advisable. Else, there's a risk of loosing big time if u get severely sick.
v)What all docs I need to send over to them to prove that I(PA) landed 5 months back and they are joining me now?
Ans: U don't need to "prove" anything. It'd be all there in the system.

OR

B)I go alone and my wife and child follow later (before their PR expiration date)

Queries:

i) Does this go smoothly or their might be some gliches for them? Do they need to be cautios when dealing with immigration officers.
Ans: There wouldn't be any probs. Many follow that route as well.
ii)What all docs I need to send over to them to prove that I(PA) landed 5 months ago(ALONE) and they are joining me now?
Ans: U don't need to "prove" anything. It'd be all there in the system.
iii)Do I need to show the POF for all three of us, first time I land. Or is it necessary for her also to show POF when my spouse enter canada at POE.
Ans: The requirement to 'demonstrate' ur settlement funds is while u r 'landing', ie. when the PA (or the full family) enters Canada for the 1st time. During subsequent 'landings' by any or more of the family members that need is no more there.

I have been browsing through the forum threads and I have observed that most of the PR holders do the landing together. Are there any reasons behind this? Will it be difficult for my wife and daughter to land after me.
Ans: As put before, not all 'land' together with their families... many 'split' it up as well, with the PA completing his/her 'landing' first and the rest family members arriving later - when the PA has organized many things here, viz. housing, furnishings, car, starter job etc.

Your expert advice and guidance will help us plan our landing in a better way.

Ok. But we are also skeptical about loosing the PR cards in transit and then waiting for PRTD to be issued. Which If refused would be very difficult to handle

ii)Do we need to declare the list of goods that will follow later at the time of landing.

Ok will make sure we have all the things on our list.

Does that mean we have to wait till 90 days for applying for health cards OR I can apply when they come here, but will reach us after 120 days(ie 90 days +2-4 weeks).Pls confirm.

iv)Should I take my med.insurance for the first three months and later take another policy for them also?
Ans: Advisable. Else, there's a risk of loosing big time if u get severely sick.

Ok. But should I take medical policy for my wife and child even if they will stay for a maximum of 5-7 days

v)What all docs I need to send over to them to prove that I(PA) landed 5 months back and they are joining me now?
Ans: U don't need to "prove" anything. It'd be all there in the system.

But are there chances where they ask us to prove our stay. What can suffice as proof then? Pls suggest

OR

ok thanks

Thanks for clarifying on this too.:)

Hi IA,

Qorax has answered all your queries very well. There is no element of chance involved. Rules can't be changed retrospectively. It is entirely your call what you prefer to do. Both scenarios have their pros and cons. If you land alone in Canada your family can join you when you are able to find some employment there. This will help you in keeping your expenditure low initially. On the other hand if your family accompanies you, that will provide you with some emotional support and you could start getting a few hundred dollars a month as Child Tax Benefits.
