Hi guys, I've got a question and am in a dilemma as to what to do. Could someone out there help me with this matter, many thanks.

I've been reading from Citizenship and Immigration Canada's website that the processing time to get a work permit from Canadian High Commission based in Singapore would be 24 months as mentioned here: cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/temp/workers.asp

My intended date of going over is in June 2013, as such, I am in doubts as to whether I have to apply now so as to prepare myself for a career with the Canadian company 2 years later, or do I apply when it is a few months before my intended date of joining?

To further add to me woes, I read in some websites that an LMO is only valid for 6 months.

Your valuable help would be very much appreciated.

It says 24 months, but none of the applicants have seen that much time for wp process. All you have to do is apply few months before you plan to leave. On singapore cic website it mentions 30 working days to process visa. LMO validity period could be as less as 3 months. However, they key is to apply before LMO expires. The wp application is still valid, if the application is lodged before lmo expiry.

This was told to me by my employers in Canada and i have done the same. My LMO expired in June, but my WP application is still under process. I had applied in May. I also know a person, who had applied in May and got his visa in June. Cheers

Hi,

Question in applying canadian work permit in Singapore.

1. Do I need to submit notarized copies of my certificates (education, experience) when applying for work permit.
2. My family is not planning to come with me. They will join me in 6 months time later. Can I apply open work permit for my family also along with me? Or would it be good to apply later ince I get my WP?
3. Do we need to show an intent to coming back to Singapore once the WP is over?

Thanks in advance for the responses.

Warm rgds,
Nik
