One questions regarding question 10.a). Where have you lived during your eligibility period? Please list add addresses inside and outside of Canada.

My eligibility period if Oct 2013 till oct 2018. I moved to Canada in July 2015. Before that I was living in KSA and I am originally citizen of Pakistan. I have all the details from July 2015 onwards but I am not clear on the requirement before July 2015.

My question is during my eligibility period, e.g. in 2013 and 2014 I went to Dubai (UAE) for 2 weeks on a training and I went to Bahrain (country) for 2 days, and stayed in hotels so do I need to mention hotel addresses though during this time technical I was resident of KSA and living mainly there and was visiting pakistan once in a year to see my parents for few weeks.

I am just getting confused as I saw some threads on this forum where some people on the forum are saying you have to mention all the addresses including ur hotel visits, and some people are saying you do no need to mention hotel addresses.

I am just confused, what should I do here, my question is mainly for the time before becoming PR i.e. before July 2015. So, if went to a different country and stayed in a hotel for 2 days, do I need to mention that?

Thanks

No, you do not need to mentioned your 2 weeks in Dubai and 2 days in Bahrain. You main residence was in KSA during those trips and that is what IRCC is interested in.

Thanks Keesio. So if I went to see my parents in my home country during the time period from Oct 2013 till april 2015? As my residence expired in KSA on May 2015. So my question is if I was visit my parents house back home before expiry of my KSA residence, do I need to mentioned that as well? or no need for that too just like for bahrain and dubai.

Second question is on the online calculator, my eligibility period become Oct 2013 to oct 2018. For some reason, it counts my Pre-PR time period too and asks me to write the duration I was no in Canada? How can I do ? I became PR on July 2015. and since becoming PR, I left Canada only for 27 days which I have shown as absence on the calculator, but what should I do for the time period of pre-PR ? it is so confusing. Can you please guide me?

I would say that it depends on the length of your trip(s). If under 2 months, it can be reasoned that it is a temporary trip. Any longer than that and it becomes a bit of a grey area.

Pre-PR time spent in Canada can also be counted towards citizenship, hence why you are asked. You need to enter those pre-PR dates in the calculator if they cover your eligibility period

that's my point, I was not a temporary or any kind of resident in Canada before PR as was in KSA before that time. so that's my question when I finished calculating, it asks to put the time period of absence from canada in your eligibility period. I was away from canada after becoming PR that I have mentioned, but before becoming PR, I was never ever in canada so where should I capture that information

I believe you still need to account for that time before you were a PR. My wife had the same situation where her eligibility period covered her time before she came to Canada. We entered that entire time period as an "absence"

Yes my situation is exactly similar.

Here is break down.
I became PR on July 2015. Before this, I never came to Canada
Applying for Citizenship in Oct 2018.

when filling online calculator, it shows my eligibility period back to 5 years i.e. from Oct 2013 to Oct 2018.

I went out of canada after becoming PR, just one time for 27 days which I mentioned it in absence.

But the time period before July 2015 i.e. from Oct 2013 till July 2015, I was not a PR, I was living in KSA and in my home country, and visited coupel other countries. So my question is, I can not mentioned it in the online calculator because the online calculator is related to Canada only.

So, how should I mentioned above time period. Can I mentioned it in Question 10a) where you have lived?

You have to mention in in 10a) but I'm pretty sure you need to mention it in the residency calculator. In the calculator, you would use the date you left Canada as the beginning of the eligibility period (Oct 2013) and the date you return would be when you became a PR (July 2015). Then in the "Reason" field, explain that this period covers the time before you became a PR.

This is what I did for my wife. Maybe it is not really needed but it worked for her.

Maybe others have different opinions but from what I understand, this seems to be the popular throught

Oh Ok so so basically I have to fool the form and put the previous duration..

So below mentioned I am going to mentioned, take a look and let me know if this is correct.

Below mentioned is the details of the period before July 29 2015.

From: 2015-05-04
To: 2015-07-28
Destination Pak
Reason: see family and this is before becoming PR
#Days: 0 (calculator calculated zero)

From 2015-02-27
To: 2015-03-01
Destination: DXB
Reason: attend orientation and this is before becoming PR
#days: 0 (calculator calculated zero automatically)

From 2014-10-02
To: 2014-11-08
Destination: Pak
Reason: went on vacation, this is before becoming PR
#days: 0 (calculator calculated zero automatically)

From 2014-08-01
To:2014-08-02
Destination: Bahrn
Reason: vacation
#days: 0 (calculator calculated zero automatically)

From 2014-01-31
To: 2014-02-13
Destination: DXB
Reason: Training
# days: 0 (calculator zero automatically)

From 2013-09-13
To:2013-10-03
Destination : Pak
Reason: vacation
#days: 0 (calculator calculated zero automatically)

So do you suggest writing it like above, or should I just write one entry as you did?

in your wife case, it was easy as probably you guys lived in one country, but in my case, I went on exit from KSA in May 2015 and for 3 months I stayed in my home country with my parents, so how should I mentioned this information

Oh
So do you suggest writing it like above, or should I just write one entry as you did?
I would omit all your short business and familt visit travel from KSA and just add when your KSA visa expired and you went home to Pakistan.

So something like:

From: 2015-05-04
To: 2015-07-28
Destination Pak
Reason: see family and this is before becoming PR
#Days: 0 (calculator calculated zero)

From: 2015-05-04
To: 2013-10-03
Destination : KSA
Reason: primary residence before coming to Canada and landing as a PR
#days: 0 (calculator calculated zero automatically)

Note that you will need a PCC from KSA since you were there for 6+ months in your last 4 years from your application date. Some people say that getting a PCC is difficult from KSA. If that is the case, you may want to consider waiting just a few more weeks (after November 4th at the earliest) so that you will be under 6 months and not have to deal with getting a PCC from KSA (assuming you never went back to KSA after 2015-05-04)

Huh guys, many prospective Canadians spent part of their lives in KSA recently.

What were you all doing there? Attending a flying school?

There is a large expat population (especially from South Asia) employed in KSA.

I have the same question regarding my previous stay before becoming PR. but what about question 9. c
During your Eligibility period did you live outside of Canada?. If I put yes (considering my pre-PR period), then it's asking me to fill CIT 01777 which I think is for Crown servents.

You don't need to file it. All I did, I printed out the form and wrote Not Applicable and attached a cover letter explaining why it is not applicable to me as I am not a crown servant.
