Hey guys, quick Q. Noob here, so go easy on me.

If your nominated by a state (under Ontario International Masters Graduate Stream, for e.g.) and you then apply to CIC for PR, how long will the application take? I know they have a page with processing times OUTSIDE of Canada, but they don't mention the time it takes if application is submitted from inside Canada.

Second, if it take 3+ year or something, and you work permit runs out, can you extended your work permit until the PR application comes through? I don't think Canada has bridging visas.

Provincial nominees have priority processing with cic and they try to process all application within six months.

You can make application to CIC for extension of work permit once u receive nomination from your province. Your work permit will be extended based on your provincial nomination.

Thanks a lot guys. I wonder why they don't mention the six months timeline on their website. Seems to me, it'll help get the talent they want to tap (already studying/living in Canada) more interested.

biometrix - I have a state nomination from Alberta, and I have been waiting for 8 months already and no decision has been made. The office told me they would make a decision anywhere between 6 months and 18 months if I am lucky.

My guess is that you have Recieved medicals and your file is being delayed because you applied to buffalo. Another reason you might be have delays is your family structure, country of origin, number of countries of residence and visa officers speed. Folks have gotten pr from cpp-o in less than 6months.

How family structure affect the processing time? difference between the one with 2 boys and the one with 2 girls?

If you are a single applicant less time would be taken to process your application and if you are married with kids more time would be taken to process because of the family structure.
