Hello,

I need help regarding filling Q # 6B of the form .It says "when did you first came to live in Canada ,if different from A "?
I started living in Canada right from my landing day ,which I have already mentioned in the "A" part of the same question so should I put N/A in the space for 6 (B) as I have got the same date for both the questions ?

Seniors what did u do ?

Thanks

In my opinion, put the same date again to prevent any confusion.
Thanks .I did the same initially but then I realized that the Q # 6B might be needed to be answered only if the date is different from Q 6A .

Anyone else who has got his/her application in process already ...kindly advise .

"when did you first came to live in Canada ,if different from A "?

This is for some one who came to live in Canada before they are Permanent Residents like Work Visa or student visa. They apply for PR later and become PRs later. So they have two different dats.

For the some one who landed Canada first time as PRs both are same date.

Thanks for your input , but should I fill in the same date as an answer or just put N/A .

According to the guide you should put N/A but I saw many situation in this forum they follow the instruction and their application returned back. So if you put the same date it will be clear for the officer who will review your application and this what i will do. ( they will not return your application because you wrote the same date but if you put N/A maybe some inexperienced officers find N/A confused for them )

What about the case when you land (date - a) as PR for first time; but then had to leave canada almost immediately to close on things; and came back (date - b) in few months. Would (date - b) not be the date when you first came to live in canada? Or would it still be (date - a)?

(date - a) is the date you came to live in Canada. Same date you became PR. So you write in both places same date.

You left after that and came back - this you can do several times it doesn't matter.

Instruction guide does not say to put N/A.
Question 6A

Write the date when you became a permanent resident (landed immigrant).

To find this date, refer to your:

Record of Landing – IMM 1000
Confirmation of Permanent Residence – IMM 5292
Confirmation of Permanent Residence – IMM 5688
Permanent Resident Card

Question 6B

Write the date when you first came to Canada to live.
But the residency calculation page says so.

If there is a contradicting instruction, the guide supersedes other distant web page instructions. I guess the web page is older, may be for a previous version of application form.

Another thread similar doubt. Application returned for N/A.
