PVT Visa Type Notification from NYC VAC

I received request for the passport submission upon which i went through usual drill and submitted the relevant stuff to VAC

I have got notification from NYC Vac as below :

My H1B stamped visa is expired and have valid I-797 for 2 yrs (2016-2018) [Currently located in US]

I have submitted renewed passport of 10 yrs validity(2015-2025) without any stamped pages in it.

So will they grant me temporary resident visa (TRV) till 2018 based on my I-797 or duration of my passport validity?

Were you granted visa based on your passport expiry or limited duration?

The validity of your TRV will depend on the assessment made by the visa officer.... based on a number of factors such as your ties to the US and/or to your home country + your immigration status in the US + the reason you want to visit Canada, etc.

So, your TRV validity could be until your I-797 validity or your passport expiry or a shorter length

OP what was your timeline? Did you get the passport request on the 18th or did you submit it then?

I got the request and submitted the passport to VAC by 17th.

Here is the explanation of PVT type visa I received from VAC:

"That is the abbreviation used for all those submitting their passports through our office for online visa applications."
