"Purpose of travel" in Visitor Visa application

Hi everyone.

I'm filling out all the files for my parents' visitor visa. I'm an international student currently living in Canada and my parents want to visit before I finish my studies.

I have all the necessary files but I found a section that requests "purpose of travel". I've read that what some people do is submit a sort of invitation letter from the person that's in Canada and whom the applicant will visit, but I was planning to do that under the "Invitation letter" section. The help icon on the IRCC website says that it can be a flight ticket, but we don't feel comfortable buying a ticket without having a visa approved. I'm a bit confused with this, I'd appreciate your help in figuring out what can I submit for this section.

Hi Andrew!

In purpose of travel I usually create an itinerary of things we have planned as a family to do while the fam is visiting. For example, go to Niagara falls, visit Montreal etc...

I suggest you book some Air bnbs for the time being and get a cancellation once the file is submitted that to prove that you have things booked for when they visit.

I applied for my two siblings VV in December and unfortunately they got refused, we are planning to apply again soon and will make sure to include more supporting documents to get them approved. I hope for you its different. let me know how it goes.

Currently I am in the process of helping my brother apply for a Student Visa and SOWP for his wife. I am curious of when you applied to come as a student?

Thanks. I added some flight reservations (not the tickets) and added some information about our plans for their visit.

I applied back in November 2020, got approval in April 2021 and travelled to Canada in August 2021. SP and SOWP as well.
