Guys,

Can be a different topic but I have to ask your advice. A big population of the forum is Indian so thought you can help

I received ITA last month and I have been preparing EE documentation. Recently I received an offer from a company in Pune, India. I have never been in India before and thinking if it is worth to give up Canada and go to India as an expat. They give a really good salary + full benefits.

Please tell me, average salary in Canada or triple salary in India?

pune is one of the best city ..here in canada snow most of the time ..u can save and enjoy at larger scale in pune ..

This is such a personal decision, perhaps you will just have to do your Research and create a pro/con list. Relying on others may not be the best way to go. I have no idea where Sidon lives, but this is not an accurate picture of Canada.

I am from mumbai, very close to Pune. I have been to Pune a couple of times and it is a small fast growing City. The accommodation is reasonably priced and you will also find a mixed crowd. Food is not a problem. This was not the case ten years back. But again it is densly populated and sometimes transportation is a pain unless you own a vehicle. Summers tend to be very hot. All in all, it is not chaotic like Mumbai.

You must try and recce this place before finalising your decision.

well which country ru from? pune is very polluted. smog is really bad. traffic is bad unless ur from another crowded indian city i wouldnt recommend poona.
canada is cold but clean air. I have lived in pune and love the city but i wouldnt live there now unless i find a place far away from the city(outskirts) and retire there. however as others have said its a very personal choice. make a list of pros/cons.

Depends on which part of Pune or Canada. Quality of life is probably better in Canada. If you can trade cold weather for hot but polluted weather go for Pune. Or if you have family there. I consider myself a Pune resident though past several years I am in US. Real estate to buy is pricier there, it's probably not wise to buy. Rest depends on your personal choice.

Hello,
like someone already said, it's a very personal choice. But I'll try to help as much as I can with this answer.

I'm born an brought up in Pune, often mocked as typical Punekar (Puneite). I have also lived for almost two years in Vancouver.
I'll try to list pros and cons of both the places from my perspective. Hope this helps you :

Vancouver Pros (Most of these will be applicable to other parts of Canada)
1. Till 2012, ranked best city to live in the world for 5 years.
2. A truly cosmopolitan city, with people from different parts of the world living in harmony.
3. Great infrastructure, public transport (especially in comparison with Pune)
4. Minimum wage $10.25 / hours, which means, you legally NEVER get paid below that.
5. Great educational institutions and lots of job opportunities due to lack of skilled labour.

Vancouver Cons :
1. Cost of living very high, especially real estate.
2. It's cold and wet for most part of the year.
3. The people are very polite, but mostly very reserved. For someone who's used to start a conversation with complete strangers in bus / train,
it can get a little lonely at times, especially if you are not outgoing.

Pune Pros :
1. Cost of living is relatively low (compared to Mumbai, Bangalore, Vancouver :) )
2. Great educational institutes, rapidly developing IT hub, with lots of job opportunities.
3. Daily life is relaxed, unlike Mumbai. Night life is pretty good.
4. One of the safest cities in India, especially for women.
5. Climate is pleasant throughout the year, good rainfall, great winter, and a hot summer.
6. A paradise for foodies : you'll find cuisine from all parts of the world.

Pune Cons :
1. Horrible traffic and public transport.
2. Not as polluted and populated as Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, but if you compare it to Canada, Pune is no where close.
Since it's my hometown, I can't think of more cons, sorry :)

But here's an important stats for you : Population of Canada is 35 Million, whereas the combined population of Pune and Mumbai is 14 Million, almost half of it.

To summarise, based on stats and facts only, you should choose Canada over Pune anytime.
But if you choose Pune, we Punekars will make sure you feel welcome :)

lol punekar and welcome? welcome no such word in punakers dictionary lol just kidding.....
