Hi All,

I'm in Canada with an LMIA-based closed work permit, And today I received the mail from IRCC that I'm eligible to study without a study permit as of June 27, 2023, by way of a new, temporary public policy.

My question is can I apply for a postgraduate work permit(PGWP) after completing a PGWP-eligible course in a designated learning institution?

Thanks

Based on the rules in place now, you would not qualify for a PGWP since your studies must have been completed while holding a study permit. Of course it's possible IRCC may announce a change to these rules as well.

Hi Scylla,
Thank you very much for the quick response,
Please note i don't have a study permit explicitly, I only have a LMIA based work permit.
Does this rule only apply for the LMIA based work permit holders? or does it apply to any work permit holders i.e Dependent open work permit

Thanks

Which rule? The PGWP rule or the special policy?
