Hi,

If your case was referred to PSU, please share the reasons and time you’ve waited till you get any updates on your case.

I applied in August 2021 and have not received any updates since AOR in October. From GCSM notes I understood that my case was referred to PSU, and the reason is the discrepancy between the country of birth indicated in COPR (USSR) and the one that I indicated in the citizenship application (Russia). I chose Russia from the drop-down list of options in the online form as there was no such option as USSR.

Hi Atextel,

I am in the same situation as you. I received my AOR on June 2, 2022 and had no updates on my file since. I applied for GCMS notes and received them on April 3, 2023 and noticed that my file was referred to PSU because my country of birth differed from established
Hi Atextel,

I am in the same situation as you. I received my AOR on June 2, 2022 and had no updates on my file since. I applied for GCMS notes and received them on April 3, 2023 and noticed that my file was referred to PSU because my country of birth differed from established records/documentation. My ESTABLISHED country of birth in my immigration documents is UNION OF SOVIET SOICALIST REP (USSR) but I selected BELARUS in my citizenship application since I was born in Minsk and I couldn't see an option to choose UNION OF SOVIET SOCIALIST REP on the online application.

I sent a Webform on April 4, 2023 asking them to correct the mistake and confirming that I was not requesting a change in my country of birth. I haven't heard back from them yet.

This is extremely frustrating since I now noticed that UNION OF SOVIET SOCIALIST REP is a selectable option in the online application. Until seeing your post, I though I was going crazy since I don't remember seeing this option when I was filling my application in May 2022. I remember also asking my wife to also look to see if she could find USSR in the drop down and she also doesn't remember seeing it.

Please keep me posted on how your application is coming along and I will do the same. Wishing you all the best!
Exactly, I think they might add USSR to the drip down after the flood of applications with this discrepancy. Anyway, unfortunately, they haven’t even touched my application yet. It’s been almost two years since I applied. It does look like they usually do not do anything at least for 2 years since the application is referred to PSU

Can you please let me know when your file was referred to PSU? Mine was referred on November 18, 2022 and I still haven't heard anything from them. I tried to contact IRCC twice by web form asking them to correct the country of birth and to get my application transferred out of PSU, but they haven't responded to any of my request. I am trying to help them correct the problem and continue processing my application, but they simply won't do anything. I'm also planning on seeing a lawyer next month to discuss my options, including potential filling a mandamus application against the IRCC.

Mine was referred to PSU in March 2022. I also sent many requests to correct the country, and they do nothing. It seems like once you application is in PSU, it is backlogged and nobody actually works on it. None of the required checks have started yet in my case
