Just a heads up to everyone who may not be aware,

"
Hello,

I hope you and your families are all doing well. I am forwarding
information from Blank owne of Blank. Mr.Blank is an accountant who has done some research about whether the
federal and provincial relief funds will impact a spousal sponsorship.

"Regarding Canada's COVID-19 Economic Response Plan, some of you may be
concerned that applying for these emergency relief funds would jeopardize
your sponsorship applications. Please note that emergency relief funds
should not be considered as "social assistance".

Social assistance is defined in IRPR s.2 as "any benefit in the form of
money, goods or services provided to or on behalf of a person by a province
under a program of social assistance, including a program of social
assistance designated by a province to provide for basic requirements
including food, shelter, clothing, fuel, utilities, household supplies,
personal requirements and health care not provided by public health care,
including dental care and eye care".

In Canada, social assistance programs are administered provincially. The
Economic Response Plan is a federal program, which includes financial relief
through areas such as EI, GST, and CCB (Canada Child Benefit) - none of
which are welfare programs... and neither are loans or payment deferrals.

If there are other specific questions your client may have, please let me
know. Otherwise, you can provide you assurance to your clients that
applying for financial relief in the Economic Response Plan will not
jeopardize their sponsorship applications."

Regards,
Blank
