Hello,

We got my husband's e-copr after an inland sponsorship on 22nd November. We have unavoidable international travel this week and intend to apply for a PRTD to help him come back as we won't get his PR card in time.

I wasn't aware of the residency obligations until today. Since he became a PR last week, can we still apply for the PRTD? We called IRCC and they said he doesn't need any other proof, just the e-copr, but I wanted to check here if anyone has had a similar experience before.

Thank you in advance!

He is already in compliance with the residency obligations. Check the form for how to apply.

Simplest way to understand: as long as he is OUTSIDE Canada LESS THAN 1095 days in any five year period, he is in compliance. Since the first five year period is from day he became a PR to five years from that day - he is in compliance, he's not been out of Canada too many days.

(After the fifth anniversary, the five year period will always be looking back)

Thanks! I think IRCC heard us and expressed us his PR card. Just received today and we leave tomorrow!
