PRTD validity period

Hello
I’m wondering if someone can confirm how long PRTD’s are usually valid for?
I will be out of the country for ~4 months, and wondering if I can get it done as soon as I arrive to my destination (peace of mind, check it off my list), or whether it may come with a short validity period, making it useless if I apply too early. Thanks.

And to clarify: it’d just be a regular PRTD application (no RO or HC concerns- the renewal PRC is just taking its sweet time to arrive)

When submitting a request for a PRTD, you have the opportunity (and this is noted in the rules) to write a cover letter, in which you can attach copies of air tickets, or indicate the date of departure.
A PRTD is valid once, but you can ask for multiple PRTDs (giving reasons for the request).
