I am 17.5 years old. when i applied for the prtd it said a guardian has to sign it if i am under 16. On this website it says under 18. so i don't know what to do. I applied it and my dad didn't sign.

It looks like the web site is wrong. It states:

Applicants who are less than 14 years of age:

The application must be signed by one of the applicant’s parents or legal guardian(s).

Applicants who are 14 years of age or more but less than 18 years of age:

The application must be signed by the applicant and one of the applicant’s parents or legal guardian.
The form, however, states that a parent must sign only if the person is under 14.

I would personally fill out the form exactly as it says to. It says for you to sign, and only for a parent to sign if you are under 14.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5524E.pdf

If it was the other way, it would say Signature (if applicant is over the age of 14), and Signature of Parent (if applicant is under the age of 18). It doesn't, and that form is what they will be processing.

The top of the form is even more explicit:

All individuals, regardless of age, must complete their own application form. Parents or guardians must complete and sign application forms for children under the age of 14.
You are the one with the permanent residency status, not your parents. That means you have status, by right. You should be fine.

There is a possibility it will be rejected, though I suspect it will not. I do have two questions for you:

1) Are you legally an adult in the country you are coming from?
2) Are you able to get a parent to sign, if you needed to?

1) Im not an adult here its at 18.
2) Yes I can but I forgot to. Yet in the documents I attached a paper about my dads Job, and I attached a bank statement. Can they be used as a proof?

Ahh. It's really going to depend on whether the agent goes by the form, or the manual (which agrees with the web site). I suspect it will be alright.

If you want to help things along, you can get your parents to sign and try a Case-Specific Enquiry:

https://secure.cic.gc.ca/enquiries-renseignements/canada-case-cas-eng.aspx

They don't have an option for a PRTD (under type), but you could select PR card and upload a form with the signature.

As for the "16 years" thing - that's for children travelling alone. If you are under 16, you have to have a letter saying who will be responsible for you.

In addition to that, if you travel with one parent, you need proof that the parent has custody or consent. If you travel alone, you are supposed to travel with a letter from both parents that you have permission to travel. That would potentially be checked at the border. Yay. At 17 and a half years old, it's a bit less likely, though.

Flying as an Unaccompanied Minor can be a pain at times.

Yep. I quoted it earlier. It's going to depend on the agent. The form itself says it's only required if you are under 14.

Like many things with immigration (and the government in general), you will find inconsistencies and variability. "The rules" vary depending on who you are, and who is enforcing them, and there is a certain amount of dumb luck involved for everyone.

As an example, there were errors in my families application - several of them (dates being a little off, mixing up which years we lived at which house, etc.). We were missing a few documents (fingerprint cards).

We caught a few mistakes. CBSA caught a few. They gave us a chance to fix the errors, and we got PR. Others had their applications denied for exactly the same things. It all depends on the luck of the draw, and the mood of the officer. If you get someone in a bad mood, the application gets rejected. If you get someone in a good mood, the application gets accepted.

Usually, when there is some ambiguity (like the form), they are nice, and give you the benefit of the doubt. That's why I expect that your application will likely be ok.

Nobody can guarantee it, though, unfortunately. Technically, the enforcement manual (a very long complicated set of policies) says they should reject the application. Yes, that would be punishing you for following instructions, and that's not particularly fair. They are usually fair. Not always.

Should I send them an email or it won't make any problem because my dad attached his bank statement and a paper stating that my dad has a job. Yet he didn't sign any paper. Urgent help needed

It's a matter of risk. I'd personally send a CSE, but it's up to you whether or not you think it's worth it.

Sometimes, things are the luck of the draw.
