PRTD - question regarding urgency

My wife is traveling back to Canada Sept 28.
Should we apply for Urgent processing of the PRTD?
Our only concern is the processing time and no other reason from the list they provided to apply for Urgent.

I don't see any reason to do so since your case is for a PR who well meets the residency obligation. And just as importantly, sometimes it seems requests for urgent processing don't seem to speed things up. And I'm not sure they'd agree it's urgent either (if you ask for urgent, they have to decide whether or not to handle urgently). Just apply soonest.

Yes, it’s been a week but we haven’t heard anything from them so far. Not even an acknowledgment.

Got an email today (8th day since applying online) asking to submit passport.

we actually heard back today, but they wanted more information...
But it gives me hope that it is being looked at and in process. fingers crossed we can still make our booked oct 1st trip.

We got the passport back with the PRTD

Aug 2, 2024: PRTD Application submitted
Aug 9, 2024: Received email for passport submission
Aug 13, 2024: Submitted passport
Aug 30, 2024: Received email about passport dispatch
Aug 31, 2024: Received passport with PRTD
