It matters why the Canadian citizen is abroad living in that country versus their spouse. The Canadian citizen doesn’t actually seem to be tied to India the spouse PR seems to be the main reason the Canadian citizen is in India off and on.
The poster said both him and his wife are retired. What does it matter if they are unemployed even in India? As a retiree, who knows if one couple had to remain in one country (perhaps looking after aged parents or other social/religious commitments ) while the other spouse went to vacation or cruising alone or with friends during the last 5 years?
Thanks for a detailed replies. Wife has some employment records. I mean no one page letter that she joined on xx date and retired on xx date. Typical of government service. Would it be better to show her as Unemployed?
Self was never employed in India. Was travelling out of India on business visa for work.
my record of days spent in India is more than 730 days in 5 years. I am going out for work. During the covid period I was at home for 7 to 8 months.
Please advise - We should file IMM5444 showing my wife as employed and now retired, Self Canadian citizen as retired and staying in India. I am 65 yrs old now and when I returned back to India after getting my citizenship I was 55. My worry is how to explain (if asked) the entry and exit stamps of - per year atleast 2 stamps.
Both of us primary residence is India for which we have property ownership, driving license,

I think there is close to zero likelihood that an immigration agency outside Canada is going to have useful information on this, and a far higher likelihood that they'll give incorrect and even harmful advice.
If you want professional advice that at least won't make things worse: speak to a Canadian lawyer who specializes in immigration. Your case is not a simple or common one. The firm that hosts this website seems reputable but you'll have to do your own research.
I said nothing about being unemployed or retired. In this case the wife appears to have relocated to India much earlier than the husband and it doesn’t appear that the Canadian citizen was primarily working or living in India on a full-time basis. If there was ever concern he could just sponsor her again which is why IRCC may overlook any concern about who accompanied whom issue. The other big issue they may face is not qualifying for any form of pension or income supplement, not qualifying for subsidized LTC for 10 years in some provinces, etc.
But the poster did say about being retired. It doesn't matter if you said nothing about being unemployed or retired. And you said the Canadian citizen on and off / his ties to in India. Unemployed can mean not working on a full-time basis.

You seem to be missing the point that the PR spouse moved to India first and was the one consistently living there.
Can you help me with a suitable LOE to justify the delay in renewing PR. Reasons could be that PR landed in canada in May 2009 did a soft landing and returned to Canada in May 2010 after applying long leave. Lived in Canada until May 2012, moved back to India and resumed her job. During the 2 years in canada she got certifcation from the OCT(Ontario College of Teachers). The PR holds Masters in Chemistry and a Bachelors in Education from Mumbai University and was teaching Grades 11 and 12 students for 20+ years. The best offer she got was to teach supply (kindergarden), which she refused.
Finally in desperation she took packing job at Childrens place clothing outlet.
Myself the spouse took retirement at age 55 from my job at RBC and returned back to be with my family.
we could also use the H&C grounds as my wife's mother was taking care of her mother. But we don't have documents to prove this.
Incase nothing works I will contact you when I return to Mississaauga in April.

You should speak to a lawyer. You are confusing two different bases (reasons) for which to get a PRTD: one is on the basis that accompanying spouse (you), the other is H&C. Very different.
Since this hasn't been clear as yet: speak to a lawyer.
