I've recently received my work permit here and am waiting for my PR. I have done 20+ hours of practical driving lessons in the UK, and passed my theory. I'm just wondering now whether I can do the G1 without having to wait a year to do the G2, as in London I was driving with my mum in the car with me, and don't think it'll take that long for me to be ready.
I've searched the net far and wide but no real solution....help anyone

Which province are you talking about - they all have different rules.

Some reading with official links here:

Thank you for the link, I will read through that.
I’m talking about the province of Ontario.

In that case, the links there will help you.

To get good experience in Ontario from your hometown UK driving licensing you need to be driving more than 10years + , go to your consulate (UK) to get the documented letter to confirm your driving experience , I had my license 21 years so I got the maximum, I did the G1 test in Brampton , passed straight to G road test passed in Orangeville .

Judging what you said op you had the learners in UK ?

Yes I have a provisional license which is a learners license

Well I have taken 20 hours worth of driving lessons and have also been driving in my family car with another driver, so I was hoping that would count as something; so I don't have to wait a whole year to take my G2. But I'll hopefully go in and show proof of these lessons and see what they say

In Ontario, they don’t care about the lessons. They only care about the country’s licensing authority’s certificate giving details on drivers experience.

Personal experience.
